We booked our stay at one of the Collector Hotel's, the Lord Nelson, and were surprised that we were bumped up to the Victory. We love nautical antiques and fine dining, and were entranced with this little hotel's impressive antique collection and Michelin rated restaurant. This is a gorgeous little hotel. more
We stayed here for 4 nights in a double room. We enjoyed our stay, though it wasn’t in the luxury class of other SLH hotels we’ve stayed in, due to the room (a bit worn, terrible shower) and the service (nice but inconsistent). It was good value for us however as we were kindly upgraded from the neighboring Lord Nelson... more
First, I don't know why some of the recent reviewers said they paid $500/ni for a std room. The hotel's own web site has them at about $325 and in early Aug there was a 3 for 2 night special. We stayed for 4 nights in the Captain's Grand Cabin for about $250/night (7799 SEK). A great deal. We loved... more
This was our favorite hotel on a month long trip to Sweden and Denmark. The nautical collection everywhere but in the dining room was pretty overwhelming, but we thought it was fun. During our three night stay, we dealt with one desk staff who had limited English, but otherwise found the service fine (and didn't expect turn down at night).... more
My partner and I just returned from a week's stay at the Victory Hotel in Stockholm. It came highly recommended in the guidebooks as a boutique luxury hotel, but failed to deliver on its promise. We were grossly overcharged--almost $500 a night, basically the same rate (with breakfast) that we could have gotten at the truly luxury Grand Hotel in... more
$500 dollars a night, including breakfast, for a mediocre room and sullen service. The hotel is located in the heart of Stockholm, which is very touristy and full of low-end restaurants and souvenier shops. The much heralded hotel restaurant turned out to be closed during our stay (Aug. 2 - 7, 2009). The breakfast room and buffet were very well... more
We took an offer of 3 nights for the price of two - total cost £300. Ideally located in the old town for restaurants (the hotel restaurant was being refurbished) and sightseeing - five mins walk to get taxis or boat tours. Old ship sailing theme is a bit overwhelming but fun. Room seems smallish but bear in mind two... more
All rooms are named after the captain of a ship. My room was very small and dark and had a "view" of a cluttered courtyard, adjacent to the outdoor bistro terrace. This meant I could not keep the window open, as there was noise till around midnight and waiters were passing my window constantly, going back and forth from the... more
We stayed here for six nights in May 2009, whilst on an architectural tour of Sweden. We were fortunate enough to be given the Captain Johansson Suite, which has a huge sitting room, reasonable size bedroom and vast ultra modern bathroom, with jacuzzi corner bath, excellent separate shower and twin washbasins. The weather was reasonably good during our stay and... more
