The hotel is one of cheapest yes, but holy god did they forget how to isolate and ventilate? The amount of noise generated around my room and in the hotel in general was crazy! I measured the dB level, around 40! No air circulation, woke up with a headache. Generally the place is dirty as well. I will not recommend... More

A last minute booking, paid approx £20 per night and would say it was good value. Dockside is in a great location, there a great view of the city/docks just a meter from outside the front door. There is also a co-op near by and it is in the Old Town which is beautiful and was my favourite place to... More

The showers were filthy and didn't drain. The rooms had no air circulation and were therefor extremely stuffy and hot in addition to being tiny. I ended up leaving for a hotel after one night at this place. Absolutely awful.

If the hostel is clean and conveniently located to many attraction, then I'm sold. This hostel, fits that description. It's located in the old city, right next to a harbor. It's convenient to do the hop on hop off buses (which i totally recommend). The internet is stable and fast. One little issue may be the small showers that get... More

The room was located in the basement with almost no ventilation and no possibilities to open the window. I felt confined. An extremely small kitchen with limited seating. Difficult to prepare any meals. Although it is a nice location I would recommend, especially families, to find somthing more "spacious".

The hostel is in a good location, close to attractions, cafes and drinking holes etc, it's about 1.5km from the main train/bus station, there are two train station close by the hostel. However, the rooms are tiny, there's no room to stand let alone space for your luggage. Personally I think it's a lot of money to pay for a... More

Plus: good location for visiting Old Town, friendly and helpful staff, seemed clean and safe. However, the 6 bed room dorm is too small for 6 people with luggage and their staff (tiny lockers inside the room). To reach the small 2 toilets from the 6 beds dorm you need to go through 2 doors (with safety codes); showers are... More

The only positive side is the Old Town location by the water, but you can get a much better stay for the same price only a couple of subway stops away. The single room I stayed in was tiny like a box with no space to move around just to sit down on the bed. Linen was clean, but the... More

Located on Gamla Stan you have access to many areas of the city and the ability to really enjoy Old Town. The facilities are clean and staff was helpful. The layout is quite spread out with multiple doors to enter each room and showers down in a basement which can be a bit far depending on where your room is... More

Hi This is definitely one of the best locations to stay in Stockholm. The hostel is clean and has the bare minimum of facilities you need. Drawback is that it's quite noisy with the road outside and other tenants roaming in the hallways. Also there are only two toilets. We stayed in the basement, in the four people dorm. It's... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
