My partner and I spent a week exploring the wilderness in Lapland and chose the Hotel Rallaren to spend our first and last night here in Kiruna. Our room was spacious, gorgeous and very comfortable. The views from the room were magical with the passing trains, sami inspired saunas and flurries of snow on the quiet streets. Our bed was very... More

We stayed here just before Xmas 2010 and it was great. The rooms were large, clean and warm. Perfect for spreading all your gear out before or after a sled tour. The included breakfast in the cosy little restaraunt was excellent. Service was great, problems were fixed quickly and the guest kitchen and lounge/dining room are a nice homely touch.... More

We thought this hotel should be small and cozy with high standard. No, it was more a first class hostel. Situated between the railway station and the main road to Narvik it was a little noisy at night. The bath room was modern but narrow with a smell from the sewer. It was 15 minutes walk to city centre but... More

I find the reviews here a bit overrated. The hotel is alright, but nothing really special. The location close to the rail station, and just 10 minutes from the centre is good. If the price was 20% lower I would find it a good price, but now paying 1050 SEK it is overpriced for what you get-

Stayed at this character filled hotel in August 2009 and am happy to recommend it. Positives • Small privately run hotel with friendly staff • Like many small hotels in Scandinavia, it is a cross between a hotel and hostel, with communal areas (such as kitchen areas both upstairs and downstairs) but rooms have private facilities • Free computer use... We spent two nights at the Rallaren prior to setting out on a backpacking trip along the Kungsledden and did not want to stay at a typical chain-style large hotel. The room was spacious and neat, and furnished on a sparse small European town style. The staff pleasantly accomodated every request (weeklong baggage storage, email access, etc) and we appreciated... The hotel is at a great location, about a 1 minute walk to the Kiruna Train Station. It has a homey feel to it and the staff are very friendly and very accommodating. We arrived quite early and they made sure our room was ready quickly. My partner preferred it to the Scandic (whereas I thought it was a tie,... More

What a wonderful place to end up when rest and recouperation are just what the Dr ordered. The hotel is warm, wonderful and welcoming. Our family 4 bed room consisted of large double and 2 x bunk beds all extremely comfortable - shower room small but clean and perfect having just left a wilderness cabin without facilities. In addition we... More

Excellent, friendly hotel - small, comfortable, nicely furnished, top class extensive buffet breakfast. We pre booked to stay one night in the 4 bedded room (basic but clean, had a double bed and a bunk), then moved on to do the rest of our trip (ice hotel etc) then stayed in the Scandic Ferrum at the end of our trip.... Hotel Rallaren is awesome in so many ways!! I'll start from the beginning....it is right across the road from the train station, which is great in the artic. We got off our overnight train, 5 hours later than we should have, in swirling snow and freezing wind feeling more than a little sorry for ourselves. Then like a shining light... More
