Heard of different reviews. But have to be honest and say the staff and hotel far passed my expectations. Helpful staff, assisting with tour bookings etc. Would suggest keeping the fire burning at all times. Clean, comfortable rooms. Wouldn't hesitate recommending this establishment 👍

Difficult to know where to start. First the good bits, big room, reasonable condition, clean. Staff - what few there were - delightful. Only ever one person on bar or reception which meant often you waited so long you just gave up. Seemed complete confusion about what food was available when - apart from the 3 day old prawn and... We were unfortunate to arrive on the Saturday which was Valentines night. We couldn't book dinner in the restaurant as it was full. There seemed to be very few staff especially in the bar. The coffee machine in reception emptied quickly and was not replenished. Breakfast the next morning was a bit if a scrum. The second night and breakfast... More

It had snow storm in Abisko and the scheduled train was cancelled. We had to go back to Kiruna all in a suddenly and finally stayed in this hotel. Expensive but nice, the sauna is excellent. Staffs are very nice and helpful. Comfortable bed mattress and blankets. Recommended this hotel to people who are heading there .

We wanted a "real" hotel for a night after spending the first four nights in "unusual" adventure accommodations and we were in need of Hotel style services before we boarded an overnight train for the next evening. A great location in the middle of town, it overlooks the iron mine (it IS better than it sounds) and served its purpose... More

hotel is fine, be aware though there are two grades of rooms. decent ones and ones that are not fantastic and are used by contractors for the iron ore mine. The breakfast is very good, there was a decent busy bar downstairs where the food looked fine. the tourist office is accross the square where trips can be booked, there... More

Being the only big hotel in the area it's difficult to compare but I'd say this is a sub par Scandic considering the price. Rooms are nice and clean but a bit dated although some have been newly renovated. The sauna and lounge on the top floor is great though with panoramic views. Breakfast was really good as well. Free... More

The hotel is very centrally located, it's in the heart of town, and the view is great... walking distance from a lot of shops and restaurants which is good when the temperatures are in the range of -20 to -30. The flip side is there is only one restaurant in the hotel, which opens after 6pm and is closed on... More

Positives -warm rooms -great breakfast Negatives -understaffed -misleading website pictures -impersonal -dirty public spaces We booked the Scandic Ferrum for our Christmas adventure in Lapland, tempted by website pictures of wintery log fires, steaming saunas, a relaxation and reading room with reindeer skins next to a roaring fire, and the prospect of sipping a hot 'glogg' next to a cosy... Visited Kiruna for work recently and stayed at the Scandic Ferrum. During check in I asked for a room with a mountain view, which I got right away when asking the friendly guy at front desk. Did only spend 24 hours in Kiruna, but Scandic Ferrum seems to be situated quite good in a small ’downtown area’ where there were... More
