It's a conference centre rather than a hotel. When we were there we witnessed a large conference, a large group of cyclists and a wedding party this all added to the "strange" impression referred to in other reviews and whilst we found this all quite entertaining it did impact negatively but only on the dining experience.

When we arrived we found that the two rooms we had booked for our family of four were in different buildings but the staff quickly fixed that and we were happy with the rooms we ended up in. The view to the sea was lovely and the grounds well kept we liked it and also enjoyed the free coffee/tea station. Towels changed every day.

If you plan on dining there the food is good but there is no choice and clearly if there is a conference on you are rather sidelined. Dining options then require a trip in the car really ..although breakfast was good!

We would return if in that part of the world again it was surprisingly good you can walk to the beach or sit in the grounds .. very relaxing ..

We stayed here for a friends birthday at the start of the summer. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel has a cool vibe. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The free tea and coffee around the hotel was awesome - a really nice way to promote relaxation and conversation. The only thing that was a slight let down was that the rooms weren’t air conditioned at all. I’m sure in the winter, it would be fine. But in the warm nights of summer, a bit of cool air would be great. Otherwise, it’s a nice spot. I’m
sure we’ll be back to visit with friends as a midway point - perhaps when a/c isn’t needed.

Checked-in around 9:30 pm, the hotel was fairly empty, front desk staff was helpful and quickly got us our room keys. Processed super smoothly. There isn't much parking in front entrance, but you can park your car in front of your room if you get one of the spots towards the back.

Room 156. Was able to park directly in front. The hotel room was decent size, everything in order and working condition. Two twin beds (one slightly bigger than the other). Super quiet area, had a great sleep.

Breakfast in the am was included and was ok I j would say. Wifi in the room was perfect, there were no passwords required.

Downfalls include: shampoo not included, soap kinda sucked, there was goo on the wall in the shower but wasn't clear if it was a universal, cleaning goo or what.

Would say everything else was great and highly recommend it!

The restaurant experience ruins it all.....

I've been to seminars at Konventum 6 times now, and it's in so many ways a great place. The surrounding park and view of the sea is magnificent. The architecture, interior design and all the art likewise.
The auditoriums and other working areas are very well suited for seminars, courses etc. The rooms are fine, the beds good. Everything is perfectly clean and the staff nice and efficient.

BUT - the retaurant is awful. The acoustics are terrible. The tables are round and large, so those opposite you are impossible to talk to. People with the slightest hearing impairments are completely shut out of the conversation.
A colleague of mine had a sound level meter and measured the noise to 90 dB, which is the level of ie a lawn mower, something you would not want to have running next to you at dinner.
Several mentioned getting headaches, getting mentally exhausted or having strained voices from shouting.
I must've been really awful if you weren't part of the two large working grous present. Workin groups generate more noise and a lot of going back and forth between tables and the terrace for smoking .
I'd actually consider not participating in dinner, if we go back there next year again for the yearly seminar. (Lunch is a bit better, as you can sit outside if the weather is okay)

A pity, as the rest of the experience at Konventum is always a pleasure.

Only reason for us to stay was a party. This is not a hotel, more like a retreat for courses.
No elevators, many steps up to front office, front office not friendly, not handicap friendly, no elevators to room, had to carry ourselves. Breakfast area overcrowded, restaurant not ope when arriving....

Dear 372margareth We are very sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We are a conference center that also offers accommodation in our rooms. We are sorry that the restaurant was not open on the day of your arrival. Our retaurant's opening hours depend on how many guests we have in the house. On days we have few guests, our restuarant will unfortunately be closed. However our reception will always be helpfull to book a table at one of the restaurants in Helsingør town. We are sorry that you got the impression that we have no elevator. We have two elevators - one that goes inside the house and one outside the house. But we are a big house with different levels, so there can be a distance between the rooms and the mean buildning. Once again, we are sorry that we diden't meet your expectations this time. If you ever consider booking a stay with us again - please contact me directly Line@konventum.dk. Best regards Line Poulsen

Great facilities for a conference, including nicely designed lecture rooms, free coffee at any time, sea views from the restaurant and terrace, great food, and a wonderful setting at a hill surrounded by lawns and beech forest

The centre is well designed and in a lovely setting. The staff are freindly, warm and very helpful . The rooms are plain, small but adequate but bring your own soap (their bars are small and useless) and shampoo as its non existent.
Good wifi connection and the conference rooms are well appointed , bright and good for purpose

There are two downers. The food is very repetitive and almost all buffet. The vegetarian options are pitiful and often the same meal for days on end. The buffet is not fit for purpose. Two hot plates but the food is always luke warm to cold. Almost no warm vegetables and replacement dishes are slow to come out of the kitchen so you can be staring at empty plates for 10 minutes at a time. The puddings are fine if you like cakes which are rolled out each day with the occasional panne cotta or creamy dishes one cannot decipher
The other negative is their launderette which is needed if one is staying for 7 days or so. Only two machines for the whole hotel. Best time to find a machine is after midnight!!!

Ok room in a huge architect drawn compound next to the sea. Beautiful location with a sea side view of Sweden but arriving at 8pm the restaurant was closed, no common tv room and no restaurants within walking distance. Come earlier and aim to watch that euro cup game in your room. And bring food. Still three stars because I care about the architecture and location.

Dear Sir, We are sorry to hear that your stay with us did not live up to your expectations. Our restaurant is open every night in July and August from 7.00 am to 8 pm, and this satisfies the majority of our guests. You must have arrived just a little too late and we regret the inconvenience this caused you. We will look into the request that you have for a common TV room, thank you. Have a great summer. Kind regards Katrine

Answer from Konventum
Helsingoer, Denmark
Mange hilsner Katrine, Konventum
