We had a 24-hour layover in Copenhagen on a flight back to the U.S. and decided to stay at the Bethel after reading reviews. We arrived on the hottest day of the year – 93 degrees and walked from the metro to the hotel. Lots of people were out enjoying the amazing weather. We turned off at the canal –... More

Excellent location next to numerous sites and restaurants. No issues with checking in; room and bathroom were very clean. Very quaint, but we weren't in Copenhagen to stay in the room, so size wasn't an issue. The breakfast was great with lots of choices. They were nice enough to hold our bags after check-out while we spent another few hours... More

Location and cleanliness are really the only things that are non-negotiable for me in Europe. I chose this hotel from the ratings and they were right on. The staff was always helpful. I got recommendations for dinners and bike rental that worked out well. All of the staff I encountered were always friendly and helpful. Back to my requisites, the... More

As many others have said, this was a great hotel. I don't want to repeat all the fabulous reviews already written, so I will just add a few details about my particular stay: Overall Location: The location is simply charming, and my husband said he couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in the city. The canal and boats are right outside... More

We spent 3 nights at the Bethel Hotel. Great experience. We had 2 corner rooms (122 and 222). Spacious rooms with incredible views of the canal. The bathroom is very, very basic (no tub, tiny shower that just has a curtain). However, that did not in anyway diminish our experience. Staff was fabulous. The breakfast is a European style breakfast... More

We stayed at the hotel for three days and two nights from the 21st to the 23rd of December. The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful. The rooms were really nice, and although I think we were there at a quite time, sound proof the bath room did what was written on the tin but breakfast was not to be... More

Nice 3 star hotel with typical scandanavian breakfast and rooms. The rooms are small , well heated for winter and bathroom that will eventually get wet but is typical of these hotels in this region. Kudos for the staff though who were very helpful and willing to go out of their way to help. When we had an emergency, the... More

Since Norwegian Air started offering budget flights to Scandinavia from JFK I have ventured to Stockholm in 2014 (see my review of the Hotel Hellstens Malmgard) and this Thanksgiving 2015 I decided to venture to Copenhagen. Hotel Bethel (I learned from a lovely man at the front desk it is pronounced "BAY-dul") is truly a rare gem on Copenhagen's Nyhavn.... More

This simple hotel had everything we needed & the location was great. We requested a "room with a view" & the view out the window was like a picture postcard of Nyhavn. Once an old seaman's hostel it has been upgraded to offer comfortable & clean rooms with very helpful staff on the front desk who looked up & checked... More

Husband and I stayed here for 4 nights a couple of weeks ago. Our flight arrived very early in the morning and our room was (understandably) not ready. The very helpful and friendly young girl at reception offered us to leave our bags in reception and have breakfast on the house. [This was our only "con" to this hotel: There... More

Staying in Indre By (Inner City)

Neighborhood Profile
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.
