The first impressions are good. Nice enough ambiance when you arrive. once you have your key it all goes downhill from there. Having paid £71.00 GBP (621 DKK) for my room I expected more. The room was non-smoking (TRUE) but the room had clearly been a smoking room before. The delightful scent of age-old stale smoke impregnated everywhere. Arriving in... more

The hotel is not what is seems, and much much less than you can and should expect. The so-called superior room in fact not much larger than the bed. The shower/sink/toilet are in a space less than 1,5m2 (I also didn't know that was possible). It's NOT renovated (or they did everything to obscure that), there is NO minibar, no... more

I’m sorry to hear about the bad impression you got of our hotel, and I am especially sorry to hear that our staff weren’t more helpful in regards to your problems. I do, however, want to comment on some of your other complaints, as I don’t think they are all completely fair to us. The Hotel Danmark is not newly...

As all hotels in Copenhagen, it was rather expensive. For the price in UK I'd expect a big room with all mod cons, but I got a tiny room with not even a proper shower, only a wetroom that very much lived up to its name! Not often does one have to dry the toilet paper in any other city!... more

I agree. That does seem very expensive. Actually it seems way too expensive! I don’t know what happened, but I believe there must have been some kind of misunderstanding, as an extra bed is a standard fee of about 25 pounds (200 kroner) per night. I understand how some might wonder why that would cost anything at all, but an...

Recently we took a a 9-night trip to Denmark, staying in Copenhagen 3 nights, 2 nights out to Aero (following Rick Steves' excellent suggestions) and than back to Copenhagen for 4 more nights. Despite the mixed/negative reviews, we'd reserved the first 3 nights at the Hotel Danmark, its location seeming perfect. We reserved under their Queen's Special, which was a... more

Thank you for your kind words about our hotel – even though criticism is constructive, it’s always nice to get feed-back from our satisfied guests as well:) The courtyard is definitely one of the greater features of our hotel, and we gladly share it with Tivoli-hallen (as the next-door smorrebrods-restaurant is called). Smorrebrod (open sandwiches, usually served on dark rye...

In mid June 2008 there was a huge conference in Copenhagen taking all hotel rooms. So we had to settle for this hotel. We had booked a superior room. We were given a second floor room overlooking the beer garden! With no AC we have to leave the windows open. We changed room to a top floor one looking at... more

I think it’s fairly obvious that you should have stayed in a more expensive hotel with more stars than ours. You were looking for something exclusive, but since most hotels were booked, you had to “settle for” hotel Danmark. But, on the other hand, I don’t think it’s completely fair to give us such a bad headline and review because...

Stayed for 3 nights in December 2007 with my friend. Location of the horel is excellent, not far to walk to the shops and sights. Cannot fault anything about the location. The room was ok, looked out onto the main road but slept ok with little noise. However, the room was tired and had no drawers to put your clothing,... more

The Hotel Danmark has 88 rooms, and most of these potentially have room for more than one person. That means that if the hotel is fully booked, there can be as many as maybe 150 persons at the hotel at the same time. Especially during the summer break, where the hotel is mainly occupied by tourists and therefore families, the...

I came to Copenhagen on a business trip after staying in other scandinavian cities in excellent hotels at around the same price. When selecting the hotel I aksed my company to book a superior queen room. The website claimed rooms were freshly renovated with large bathrooms comtain bath etc. Sounded suitable for a business trip - somewhere to relax and... more

I read mixed reviews on this hotel but thought we would be ok without airconditioning for two days in mid-June. Rather than sightseeing as planned i had contracted the Noro virus on our cruise ship and was confined to bed and bathroom. We had a difficult time dragging our luggage to the room as there were frequent staggered stairs in... more

I’m sorry to hear about your bad experience in the hotel Danmark. I had to check with a colleague because I wasn’t sure if the bathrooms had floor heating, but she told me that there are actually a few rooms with that feature. And then she added, that in the period you stayed here, there was problems with the heating,...

I stayed at Grand Hotel in the end of August with my two friends. We ordered a triple room and were very excited because the pictures of the hotel seemed to be really fancy =) BUT! when we got to the room they had squeezed a folding bed next to the double bed so you could not walk on both... more

Initially I was very confused about this review, but then I realized that it’s misplaced. It doesn’t talk about hotel Danmark but another hotel in Copenhagen. Anyway – the confusion was my own fault. I should have know, as soon I saw that the reviewer criticized the looks of the male receptionists:) That, and the wrong name of the hotel…...

We stayed here for 4 nights in June 2007, and were quite surprised at the negative reviews that this place is getting as our experience was quite a pleasurable one. We had a large double room, though the bed was two singles put together, it was quite clean. The bathroom was a wet room but also very clean. We had... more
