This hotel got it's hype via the ownership of immensely popular food-guru Claus Meyer, who is from the Island of Lolland, and decided to take over this abandoned small town hotel and - at least according to the press - turn it into a local destination with a decently priced restaurant bases on local produce. We, therefore, had some expectations... More

We booked online but when we arrived there was no record of our booking, despite the confirmation email we had. They luckily found us a (not terribly clean) room of the same type we had booked in the annex. It was very noisy. The facilities were OK, apart from the hairs everywhere and the area of mould in the shower.... More

The hotel is very cosy. The rooms are very different and the furniture is old in a charming way. There is no luxury but it has whaat you need. It is recommendable to stay there if you go and eat ata the very nice and highly recommendable restaurant in the hotel.

We were so looking forward to staying at a hotel own by Claus Meyer a famorus Danish Author, known for his quest to deliever good quality food to the danish people. But what a let down, the hotel is very old and not renovated, but in serious need for one. Some painting and updating is done, but a large renovation... More

Old style hotel situated at local square on Saxkøbing. Rooms are quite small, luckily I was only one in a double room. Much too cheap solutions like plastic handles, cubs, curtains at bathroom. Nice atmosphere at hotel. No possibility for early breakfast.

Leif and I were very pleased with all aspects of our family celebration at the Saxkjøbing hotel. The atmosphere, the food, the rooms and most important the service were excellent. The staff, headed by Annette, was welcoming, flexible to any request and had great humor. On behalf of all the family, I can say that expectations of the Saxkjøbing hotel... More

Room = average Dinner = exellent, we chose the "package" with coffee and homemade cake uopn arrival (wonderful brownie) - the fixed menu was very good, the service and the wine menu was excellent. Brekfast = poor (advertised as Lollands best) => not "average" and not "very good" - 3,5 rating

If you travelling through Denmark to Germany or Sweden, are tired and really need a bed, then you are perhaps prepared to accept everything. Also this hotel! Is a very old stylish hotel, about 200 years old with an interesting history and with its charm, but every step you take in the room, will be heard of all other guests... More
