We booked a junior suite, but were upgraded to a larger suite: huge living room, good sized bedroom, large bathroom, with all rooms looked out onto the cathedral across the street. The windows open in all of the rooms! Hotels of this age are difficult to keep in tip top shape, so be prepared for a few things to be... More

If you're used to stripped-down Scandinavian design, the Hotel Royal comes as a shock: it's gilt, gilt, and more gilt, combined with plush carpets, chairs and bedding, set off by Northern Europe's oldest elevator. The hotel is lovely, all clean, fresh and seemingly newly-renovated. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I've had at any hotel.

We were a family of four traveling to Aarhus for two nights and what a treat it was to stay at Hotel Royal. Staff were wonderful, beds were comfortable, and suite was large and beautiful. My husband and I stayed in a separate bedroom while the children each stayed on extra cot in the living room. Even with two cots,... More

We loved the historical feel of the hotel and the convenient location near the cathedral. of town. The room was very large. Our family stayed 4 in one room and we did not feel crowded. The breakfast buffet was delicious and there was a great variety of food to choose from. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We had... More

This is an excellent hotel in the center of Aarhus, within walking distance to the entire central Aarhus. The rooms at the hotel has high class with stylish armchairs, great paintings, very good beds, and gold ornamented faucets. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was simply great, very high quality of the ingredients, and again very friendly... More

Hotel Royal is a beautiful old fashioned hotel, decorated with old paintings and a charming old elevator. The staff is very helpful and professional (also gave us a free late check out). Room and bed are comfortable, internet is free and fast. Breakfast is excellent in a glass covered area in the center of the hotel. The hotel is in... More

One of our favourite hotel stays on this trip in a junior suite which is a massive size room with a similarly large bathroom and great district views. Everything needed is provided and a superbly comfortable bed. Any one would be impressed. The reception staff were excellent and extremely helpful. Hotel is well located in central part of town and... More

We stayed at the Hotel Royal for five nights while my husband was working. At first I balked at the idea of staying at a hotel that is attached to a casino, but came to really love this place. One weekend night there was a lot of party noise, but I couldn't tell if it came from the casino or... More

A grand hotel with an unusual mix of decor centrally located. States they have the oldest lift in Northern Europe so I gave it a try. Rooms were well appointed , clean and quiet. Nice atrium for breakfast. Had some trouble with their credit card machines when checking out which took 10 minutes to resolve

The hotel is in an ideal location but parking was an issue. Our room was large and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was spacious with a separate tub and shower. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately a pub (nightclub) was across the street from our room and the noise from its young patrons made it difficult to get a good night's... More
