The Stella Maris Missionshotellet is a lovely inn located just outside of Svendborg, at the southern tip of the island of Furan. We felt that the area was more picturesque than the northern part of the island and Odense, and it is more convenient if you are taking ferries up from Germany than if you are cominbg across the bridges (it’s about an hour’s drive south off the highway). The hotel is about 10 minutes west of town, and the tree-lined lane to the hotel is only marked by one sign, so you need to be watching (Our car navigation only got us to the general vicinity).
The inn is a large house, sitting within a quiet residential area and beautifully positioned along the shore of the channel leading from town to the Baltic Sea. It is set back from the water, with rolling lawns and gardens down to the docks (and a little root grass trimmer that we grew fond of watching).
