This place a definitely a hidden gem if you like history. We stayed here just one night as we explored Mycenae and the hotel was almost as memorable as the site. Basic rooms, bathrooms down the hall. The hotel was empty when we arrived at 10pm or so, we found the place to be freezing cold, the bedroom widows were open, the heating did not work very well, and there were no extra blankets nor anyone at the hotel to ask. During our month touring Greece, we, of course, visited Mycenae. We were the only guests in the hotel La Belle Helene (the hotel was officially closed for the off-season) on a very windy and spooky March night. You have to stay here if you love classics. We not only were overjoyed to find it, but to add to this we were able to stay in Dr Schleimann's room and in his very bed! George Dassis is the host to end all hosts and glories in his family's fame to have entertained so many famous historians. Stay here... More
