The hotel is truly charming and the atmosphere is exceptional. The rooms have a nice oriental decor and attention to detail has been given. Great location in the beautiful city of Kavala, easy to walk around and explorethe old city. We were however quite disappointed by the way the hotel is being managed. The hotel is, not just by Greek,... More

Superb hotel. Beautiful rooms. The oriental style decoration uses natural fabrics (linen, wool). Very thoughtdul room service in the evenings. Oriental luxury is so much more elegant than its western counterpart. Stravoula and Vaisila do wonderful job at the hammam. Putting yourself in their expert hands is warmy recommended! Silence lovers will only regret that there is always music playing... More

Imaret is truly a wonderful experience. Staying there is like staying in a historical Ottoman palace. It has been restored to the highest standards with great taste. Also, the service, the food and the spa ( hamam ) are all perfect. The manager and the staff are all very welcoming and helpful. We spent the New Year's Eve there, we... More

Staying in an architecturally and historically significant building that is tops in luxury is a great pampering, and Imaret is so. Great restaurant, great staff, all friendly and attentive, a good mixture of old traditions and new customs. An oasis of quiet and luxury in a hustle bustle town. A unique experience. Feels like being a royal guest in a... More

Old ottoman building restored to its glory. From the first moment you are well taken care of and you are recognised as a well known friend. The hotel manager gave us a great tour of the monument - he is a man who clearly loves his job. The rooms are well decorated. The light inside the room is pretty low... More

The truth is I had heard so many things around the legend of Imaret (good and bad) that I had to check it out myself. Well, we had the most wonderful experience. Once we entered the hotel we had a historical and monumental tour by the Manager. Only then did we understand where we were exactly. A monument with 200... More

We had a couple of hours in Kavala so decide to have our lunch in Imaret to get the feeling of the place. We payed 99 euros for three including a bottle of wine, three main courses, salad and some snacks to start with. It was worth every penny. Even tough we had no reservation and just walked in through... More

My second trip to this wondrous hotel and again I find it the most perfect spot on earth to relax. Sitting within the courtyards by the gardens and pools, with friendly staff bringing drinks or snacks as you wish, then enjoying an exquisitely prepared dinner in a room with a beautiful view of the harbor, and finally retiring to candle... We are a couple (32 & 37 years old), we travelled across the globe and visited quite a lot of places. We are highly educated people and working hard to earn the money we spend. We reached to a stage in our lives when we do not check the bill when we choose an expensive service as we get used... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Imaret is a world apart, a rare jewel, where East meets West in Northern Greece. A historical monument crowning the hillside overlooking the picturesque harbour of Kavala, the hotel combines the grandeur of Greek Roman and Byzantine Style with a scent of the orient, and the elegance of Hellenic hospitality. The building was the gift of Mehmet Ali, modernising ruler of Egypt in the 1800's, to Kavala, his birthplace. ... more   less
