The Imaret is a world apart, a rare jewel, where East meets West in Northern Greece. A historical monument crowning the hillside overlooking the picturesque harbour of Kavala, the hotel combines the grandeur of Greek Roman and Byzantine Style with a scent of the orient, and the elegance of Hellenic hospitality. The building was the gift of Mehmet Ali, modernising ruler of Egypt in the 1800's, to Kavala, his birthplace. more » « less

It was my husband's idea to book a stay at Imaret while traveling in northern Greece, truly fascinated by the hotel's history - and surely the prospective of enjoying their various additional services of oriental spa. We were traveling with our teen age children and had booked 2 double rooms to accommodate us. Reception was friendly enough although we had... more

First of all, I will start by saying that when you stay in a hotel, no matter where or the number of stars it has, there is no point in being interested or trying to contact the owner/manager of the hotel. Unless you have a SERIOUS issue. But even in that case there should be a reception manager who can... more

We arrived on Saturday March 22, with a view to spend three days relaxing, having spa therapies, eating at gourmet restaurants, a long weekend without our children. We paid Euro 600 for a mini suite, that price did not include breakfast. We were travelling with some friends in total 10 persons, 5 rooms. The hotel is very beautiful, tranquile, with... more

Is both the owner and the service we received there. It happened that we landed early in the morning of our arrival date and not having anything better to do we headed to the hotel in hope that we could check in even at some extra cost for the few hours that we would occupy the rooms before entitled to... more

I stayed at the Imaret for one night, as a stop over between my departure place (Thraki) and my final destination (Halkidiki). I was told about Imaret from a friend who stayed there and I must admit that the hotel was unlike anything else I have seen or been: the difference and uniqueness lies in the atmosphere that this old... more

Imaret ... an interesting place... a hotel in a beautiful building. The building is fantastic. It has been renewed with love and dignity and it is a small work of art by itself. Sitting in the garden listening to low pinched music is an experience. The rooms are as well something different from todays standard hotel rooms. More like rooms... more

Despite paying EUR 400 per night, we were not allowed to show our room to a couple of friends who happened to be in town. The way we were confronted by the management was unacceptable and completely unprofessional. These people seem to think that combining nice surroundings with high prices is enough to make a luxury hotel. Pure disappointment more

I had heard many things about form friends, but I would never believe my eyes. The building itself is wonderful and takes couple of days to explore and enjoy some of its angles. The room far from typical, with elegant decoration was a warm place to cocoon. The public areas were small but the ambiance was excellent. Try a brandy... more

The experience was really terrible! Very nice building but the behaviour of the management is unacceptable. They didn´t wake us up the time we have asked, the breakfast was very bad and at the end they asked us to pay extra for a dirty curtain, which we have found exactly as we left if. And all that for 285 Euros... more

I first tried to visit this hotel as a guest, during a business meeting in Kavala and they didn't allow my husband and I to get some informations about the hotel. Although I didn't like the behavior. my husbant insisted to stay for a night because he liked the atmosphere. What I can tell you is NOT TO TRIED IT!!... more
