Excellent hotel. Lovely, well renovated old building with spacious, comfortable rooms, very good breakfasts and brilliant staff. The location is perfect - close enough to the bus station, in a very quiet spot, handy for good restuarants and the centre of the old town. Stayed for one week in April. Had a junior suite, which had a useful kitchenette. Nice... More

My two teenagers and I spent one week mi april in this beautiful place. It was just perfect. We had a charming large room, with a kitchen and a bathroom. The place is quiet and very well located. You can join any place of the city by foot very easily. And no worries to get lost, Angela and Eirini are... More

My wife and I stayed at the Palazzo Vecchio for two weeks in April and enjoyed it immensely. We had a warm welcome from the manager and her staff who couldn't have been more helpful. We had a very spacious junior suite on the second floor with a bedroom area, a lounge and kitchen area and big bathroom. We had... More

Whilst Palazzo Vecchio may not be in quite the same category of luxury as some of its more expensive competitors, this was easily the best experience I've had as a hotel guest for a considerable time. The hotel building is small, intimate and feels authentically Greek. The building has a nice atmospheric character to it, and it is in an... More

We stayed here a week last April and we enjoyed the location (central, inside the old town but very quiet), the service (Angela and her staff were welcoming and they give us a lot of tips for exploring the island), the room (our suite was large, well furnished and with a view to the fortress wall) and the breakfast. I... More

We got here in the middle of the day - it was one of the hottest days in september 2014. We got to Rethymnon by bus from Chania and had to go a really great path with our bags, and this, I think is the worst experience about this hotel. As we arrived, lady before the counter met us with... More

I was disappointed when I first saw the hotel in daylight, whilst it is in an excellent position for exploring the Old Town, it is just at the edge, it's opposite a car park and the police station is next door. However, we arrived late and had a really warm welcome from the night porter, a couple of Rakis went... More

Palazzo Vecchio is well positioned in the old town. Our room was large with en suite and a kitchenette; the fridge was useful. Bed Linen and towels were clean and fresh and changed regularly. The room, whilst not unpleasantly furnished, looked like it could do with a refresh and the cleaning regime was not as fastidious as some would like.... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2014

I spent two nights at Palazzo Vecchio and it was a great choice. The staff was exceptionally friendly and the rooms were very comfortable. The rooms are all inside the courtyard which makes all of them very quiet. Breakfast was nothing too special, but got the job done. Ask the hotel staff for restaurant recommendations. The food we had was... More

We have just returned from staying at this hotel for 2 nights while exploring the area. The comments on TA and photos match the description perfectly, this is a very quaint boutique hotel which has an excellent position in the heart of the old town of Rethymnon underneath the old fortress. On arrival we were greeted by Angela and shown... More
