Situated in one of the by lanes of the old town this hotel is a true reminder of the days bygone. The construction is old though refurbished. The rooms have wooden flooring which creeks. There is a restaurant on the ground floor where breakfast is served too. A little difficult to find initially but it's very conveniently located the fortezza... More

The Veneto was recommended by a good friend and it has exceeded our expectations. Our room was #109 and while not the cave like place pictured in the Trip Advisor guide it was this lovely modern aerie with windows on both sides, views to the lovely courtyard eating area an distant views to the Venetian fortress. The staff were exceptionally... More

I was in Rethymno for 7 days last year and the second night I went to Veneto restaurant. At the beginning, the atmosphere looks amazing. The location and the decor is very beautiful. The white housewine was quite bad and the staff treated us with a relevant ignorance. Pretty much expensive ..in my staying in Rethymno, we ate in different... More

This is one of the best choices for your stay in Rethymno if you want something different from the typical beachside 4 or 5 star hotel. Nothing wrong with those, but staying in Veneto situated as it is in the heart of the old town, gives you a different feeling. I stay there during my brief business trips throughout the... More

Great hotel at the center on the city. Rooms have character and decoration is nice, coming from the venetian times. However poor breakfast and rooms missing some amenities, eg hairdrier. I would go again.

Positives - seemingly attentive and pleasant staff, located dab smack middle of old town withing a few minutes walk to anywhere, curiously retro-kitsch decor, sufficiently powerful HVAC system (even for winter), room service option, beautiful grounds; Negatives - leaky shower stall, double/queen size bed turned put to be two singles pushed together, but with different heights - resulting in a... I am a regular visitor of this outstanding historical hotel. Though, I had not been staying there in wintertime up to now. Guess what? I had the best time ever. Not so busy, yet cosy and friendly staff. The time pass by slowly and creative, much raki time, productive philosophical conversations with Yannis. A number of wonderful mezedes at the... More

What good luck to discover this hotel! It is a lovely hotel in every way; friendly staff, good food, very nice suites, good athrooms, spotlessly clean and our suite even had it's own patio which was a real bonus . Excellent breakfasts. At night the hotel is all lit up with candles everywhere and so lovely.

We struggled throughout our stay in crete with the quality of accom. In short I feel historic was not the way to go for us..maybe we are blase - coz we live in a town that has stonework dating from 1500's also -so we don't go all wooly @ the knees when we encounter history. So mlore for our american... More

My wife and I stayed at Veneto for four nights at the end of our recent trip to Turkey and Greece. We arrived in the port of Heraklion via ferry from Santorini and decided to utilize the public bus to get from the port to the hotel. Two things on this topic: 1. the public buses in Crete are very... More
