A very comfortable hotel with a great pool and communal areas. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The buffet breakfast was very good and always well stocked, no matter what time you went. The room was kept lovely and clean throughout our stay. The hotel is a short walk to the many shops and restaurants of the old... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2015. Given that we had booked a superior twin room based on the website photos, we were surprised at how small the room really was. Having said that we did not raise issue as the room was comfortable, very clean and our balcony faced the street. While there is street noise, once... More

Having spent the last 10 years or so living out of various chain hotels, Hilton, Sheraton, Kempinsky and Manderin Oriental, this hotel has managed to turn my view on its end. I am used to being classed as a valued guest. However to be treated like an extended family member was an eye opener. We stayed one week with a... More

I was abit wary of the hotel being in the old town due to noise. But there was none at all it was a lovely modern hotel the staff were friendly. Just all round brilliant. The pool area was fantastic.Since we last visited in 2012 I've been there twice

My husband and I were going to Greece for 3 weeks, starting with Crete and we were not sure what town to stay in. I started reading about the towns and Rethymnon sounded lovely. I started checking out hotels and the Fortezza looked and sounded great. We got a room on the pool side. The room was a good size,... More

It is rare that one can find a hotel so near his chosen place of interest, right in the middle of a Venetian neighbourhood, surrounded by excellent eating places, 5 min walk from the fortress (Fortezza) and the Venetian harbour, yet still quiet at night and with a cool swimming pool with a well-stocked bar. Well, Fortezza is 'it' for... More

Basically there is nothing drastically wrong with this hotel and with some management action it could be greatly improved. The rooms are OK. The building is pleasant enough as a building , but it has absolutely no atmosphere to it. The staff do their job, but not terribly enthusiastically and some seem like they really don't want be there. The... More

For 102 euros you would expect a bit more. The room is basic, view of the pool, no safe in the room, empty mini fridge, couple of mini bottles of shampoo and bars of mini soap, towels...oh, and the breakfast was no better. One type of fresh fruit, some tomatoes and cucumbers, cereals breads, tang type juices, some eggs, bread,... More

We chose this hotel as it’s slap-bang in the middle of the old town of Rethymnon. I can’t fault the location, it’s perfect for the sights, restaurants and bars of the old town. I have no gripes about the hotel on the whole. The only thing that did disappoint a little was the size of the room and the balcony.... More
