My wife and I stayed one night in Iraklio prior to an early morning ferry. Got a deal by pre-booking online. Our main use for the Kastro was as a bed for the night. Relatively central location. Street no less ugly than all the rest in Iraklio. One afternoon turns out to be enough to see everything the town has... more

Hi there! We stayed here for only (thankfully) one night in October 2008 during a 2.5 week fantastic trip to Greece. Unfortunately, this hotel was our least favorite of all. Although from the outside it appears to be a nice, high rise hotel, and the lobby was large, our room was disappointing. It was very basic (similar to a low-budget... more

Heralklion is not a particularly pretty city, but it's a good base from which to see Minoan sites, and I stayed here two nights for that reason. The hotel does offer a 24-hour manned lobby. The breakfast area and food are OK. The room is fairly big and a mini fridge is provided. The location is good - it's close... more

We stayed here for one night before departing for Chania the next morning. We arrived very late, and went straight up to our room. The air con was first rate (it was still boiling hot outside) and the room was spacious and clean. We had a view of the side street and could see the sea in the distance. The... more

We stayed at the Kastro for one night after arriving in Crete during May 2008. Though the hotel's regular rates were quite expensive, we booked through the hotel's website, which qualified us for a huge (45%) discount. Without the discount, I would have said that the Kastro was not a good value; with the discount, I'd say that it was... more

A bit more expensive than we normally pay (3 rather than 2 stars), but you do get a nicer place for the money. Very nice room, good location. Could have a better breakfast though. Incidentally, a friend of ours was staying at Lato "boutique" Hotel and we were not impressed with his room (more expensive than ours, tiny, and with... more

ok to start off with I really got a cheap rate for this hotel when I booked via email w/o asking for the discount, as this was part of an almost 2 month holiday & just 1 night of many nights at diff hotels didn't really have think too much about why the discount was given and basically as I... more

I booked this hotel directly from the hotel website (receiving a nice discount). The manager confirmed my reservation promptly by e-mail. The hotel is located in a relatively closed-in area of narrow streets in the city (despite the photo, don't expect a sea view). It is convenient to the airport, Knossos and the ferry port. The lobby area was bright... more

The Kastro Hotel was a great choice for our one night stay in Heraklion. The hotel is centrally located, in a quiet neiborhood, within walking distance to all of the places you need to go (shopping, museums, cafeterias, bars, clubs and restaurants). Also the bus station and car parking stations are very close to the hotel. The lobby was new furnished, clean... more

Kastro hotel is situated in the heart of Heraclion. Within a two minute walk you can reach the numerous cafes night clubs-bars and Shopping areas. Check in was extremely fast taking into account that we hadn't booked our rooms in advance. It took us (party of four couples) less than five minutes to get into our rooms! The guy in... more
