Had a one-night stop in Heraklion and selected Lato on the basis of earlier reviews. Definitely not disappointed. First of all the staff are just great - welcoming and helpful (they were particularly helpful to a lady and - I guess - her daugher whose booking had been messed up... no fuss, just handled it and found them an upgraded... Stayed twice as we were travelling around Crete so arrived and left from Heraklion. On both occasions we were treated very well upgrade to suites they were amazing and the view was amazing. Ate both nights in the restaurant and the view and the food was wonderful. Could not speak more highly of this hotel. Thank you to all the... More

This hotel suited our needs perfectly. It is across the street from the port and the bus to Knossos. Our room was in the building across the street and was small but comfortable. Good Internet connection. Nice restaurant on the roof with views of the harbor. Restaurant food was excellent and the included breakfast buffet was superb. It is a... More

First the good points: The hotel is very close to the port, the town, the bus depot (to get to Knossos) and the archaeological museum. The airport is only 15 minutes away by taxi The food is outstanding. Breakfast comes with the normal range of food - cereal, hot and cold meats, yoghurt, fruit, cheeses, eggs and delicious fresh bread.... More

Firstly check-in was seamless. The rooms are brand new with incredible attention to detail, very funky. Big bed, quiet room with everything you need and welcome local Greek treats. Breakfast was really amazing, I was surprised- large range of local Crete cheeses and preserved fruits along with yoghurt you can eat with a fork. Never ending fresh orange juice and... More

I would come again. Excellent value for money. Rooms (I went twice) are very clean. The restaurant Herb's Garden on the roof top overlooking the old harbour is also very valuable and tasty. Attentionate service everywhere.

Overall a lovely hotel and a lovely place to stay. There were a few niggles that others may have found more of an issue though. We had a superior balcony with half city/sea view (overlooked the main street) on the 3rd floor of the old building. From looking at the outside of the building our balcony seemed to be a... More

If you are coming into Heraklion by ferry late in the evening this place cannot be beat. You can walk there in approx 5 minutes and be treated by a friendly informative staff. The rooms are clean and quiet and the breakfast was included in our package and delicious. If you get in late the restaurant on the roof is... More

First the Good: Lato has an excellent location. It is easy to get to the bus to Knossos, the Venetian Fort, the Ferry, the Central Areas, and the airport. It is very stylish, and the breakfast is awesome! TONS of variety from all countries. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and let us check out an hour late to... More

We arrived in Heraklion by ferry from Santorini at 6:30 PM, and thought it best to stay overnight before we continued on to Rethymno the next day. The location of this hotel is very good... a short walk to the center of the old town for dinner at one of the many tavernas. It is also very close to the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The dramatic views of the Venetian fortress at the old city harbor of Heraklion, and the wonder-filled waves of the Cretan Sea, are among the most photographed tourist attractions on Crete island. Not many visitors can enjoy the full panoramic grandeur of these contemplative landscapes, the way our guests at Lato Boutique Hotel can.Standing for more than 35 years above the marina, our hotel operates 365 days a year without interruptions. Famous for authentic Cretan hospitality, Lato Boutique Hotel is the most welcoming establishment in this part of the city, a magnet for romantic couples, but also for families, and business travelers.Being at the center of the old Heraklion town, the peaceful and colorful central market is only a few steps away. The museums, the Venetian harbor with the fishing boats and the yacht marina, the parks, the gardens, the city cafes and all ancient Heraklion lays at the foot of our front doorstep, your front doorstep. ... more   less
