My wife and I went on a one week yoga retreat on Crete. The retreat took place in the Porto Elounda resort. We had a great week, not in the least because of the hotel and its friendly staff. The room we had (basic) wasnice, not spectacular, with a good terrace overlooking the beautiful blue ocean and the surrounding bay.... more

Went here with our 20 month old. As people have said hotel is slightly dated for a 5*, we've previously stayed at Aphrodite Hills (pre-children) and the accommodation and hotel facilities are more modern there. However if you have a toddler you don't want to worry about them trashing the fancy soft furnishings, its not really an issue at Porto.... more

We thank you for your kind words, but want to point out that Porto Elounda is only the 6th-priced hotel in Elounda, and advertises itself as a hotel unique local atmosphere and ambiance, and certainly not “modern”. The only real difference in the décor with Aphrodite Hills is the fact that the walls here are rough white plaster, instead of...

I'd like to take just a moment and explain how we ended up staying at this resort. My best friend and I won the bid on an 8 day stay here on a charity auction his engineering firm does every year for The Make a Wish Foundation. I think its important for me to note that so one can understand... more

After a great time a year ago(though not perfect) we have just returned from Porto Elounda ,feeling disappointed and having let our feelings be known to Mr Kokotos, the owner. The plus side, absolutely stunning position and fabulous staff ,very family friendly and very relaxing. It is a family run group unusual these days.,B oth times we have been ,... more

Having just returned from the Porto Elounda i left with mixed feelings about the hotel. We arrived in early May just as the hotel had opened and some of my complaints may have been because they had just opened, I do not think that this reason alone can answer all my complaints. The hotel tries to sell its self as... more

We thank our guest for their kind words towards our staff, who does indeed work hard to please our cherished customers. We must however point out that our hotel does not advertise itself as proclaimed by the reviewer, but as such: “Porto Elounda de Luxe Resort offers its enormous variety of services in a unique local atmosphere and ambiance” (this...

From the moment we stepped into the hotel we knew that we were not at the luxury resort we had been promised. The hotel is dated and in need of some modernisation plus we thought the food was plain and bland, so much so we gave up our package dinner to go in search of better outside the complex. This... more

As written before, décor is a matter of private interpretation, but most importantly: we cannot vouchsafe for what is being “promised”[sic.] by agencies who sell “packages”[sic.], especially we don’t control the prices they charge for packaged holidays. We also cannot control the prices of package holidays at the Banyan Tree Maldives, a hotel with twice the room-rates of Porto Elounda,...

This hotel has a clear target market - if you are on holiday with young children and want to relax in the spa / on the beach, or play light golf, you will love it. If not, this is probably not the place for you. On the positive side, the hotel is well situated, with nice views and a small,... more

At Porto Elounda we experienced hospitality at its finest. My fiancée and I visited this property for a weekend getaway. Having been born and raised in the USA, my expectations are quite high in general. Considering this, I must say the staff was amazing. They literally sense what the guests may like or need and offer instantaneous assistance. Even though... more

We have just spent 2 weeks at Porto Elounda and had a very dissappointing experience. The rooms are noisy, with no sound insulation whatsoever. The lawn on the golf course next to the room is mowed from 7:30am. Even though we had a double room booked, our bed was simply 2 single beds taped together and very uncomfortable. All sports... more

I stayed at the Porto Elounda De Luxe Resort with my wife and 23 month old son. We selected the resort for a relaxing beach holiday with our child. The beach is very nice. Water is crystal clear and the small sand bay was excellent for our sun to play in the sand/water and at the same time it was... more
