Where to start? That's easy - we loved this hotel. It's in a great location, with all the hustle and bustle of the harbour around the corner. It was lovely to be able to wander to and from the hotel as it suited, taking in all the sights Chania has to offer. We had the room at the top of... more

Very much enjoyed our stay in a 4-person room at this great little hotel in the heart of Hania. Air conditioning was vital, given the 40 degree C heat - much appreciated. Location perfect - in the Turkish quarter, full of character, but within walking distance of the bustling Venetian harbour. Found space to park out rental car within half... more

My wife and I stayed in Hania for a couple of days in May 2008 at the Traditional Hotel ONTAS. The ONTAS is located in the old section of Hania, not far from the major sights, but nearer to the eastern end of the harbour where there are fewer crowds and clubs. Consequently, we had no issues with noise, though... more

We came to Chania, and fell in love with it, and now plan to stay for the winter. The ontas traditional rooms are just that, decorated in traditional decor which befits the location. Tucked between 2 of the popular spots to hang out. The location is one of the best features of this property. Its walking distance between the touristy... more

I would like to make a comment for the traditional hotel Ontas I stayed in Chania. This is a petite and warm hotel in a very good location in Chania (center of the old town). Around us we had many tavernas which someone could eat really magnificent cretan cuisine. Of course it is near to the old venetian harbor where... more

We also stayed during the heatwave, and I agree entirely that the air conditioning really was the saviour of our holiday - despite the intense heat outside, even at night, we still found that we were waking up shivering at 5am - which was a good thing! We arrived late at night after a long bus journey from Heraklion, and... more

Since we were in Crete for record heats - 40 to 44 C - our most important feature for a room was the A/C. The room was tiny as are most Greek rooms but the air conditioning worked great. We were able to cool off after a day of sightseeing and even sleep at night. Great location to walk all... more

Charming place in Chania. 3 nights, mini fridge (with free ouzo!), little table, large bathroom and very hot water. Vassili, the proprietor, was quite nice (though he does smoke a lot, but you can't smell it from the room at all). The only thing I would say that is negative is that they don't clean the room each day- don't... more
