This is a 2 star hotel which is clean and well situated in the old town at the harbor. It is opposite a antique restaurant which is like the hotel 200 years old. The characteristic is difficult to describe but should be experienced. The hotel's one entrance is at the harbor amongst the restaurants at the shore. The view at... More

You get what you pay for. This Turkish-run hotel on the waterfront is appealing because you have a great water view. Alas, you also have to listen to loud, loud, loud nightlife from all the bars and restaurants in the area - which goes on till at least 1 or 2 am. I got no sleep. Also the cleanliness is... More

We stayed here for one night after returning from a week in Paleochora. The location is fantastic in the old town. The room was long and narrow and the bathroom very small. Unfortunately the air-conditioner was broken but a fan was enough to cool the room. We didn't insist on changing rooms because the view was simply stunning across the... More

The location is great, with a view at the old harbor but breakfast was almost unexisting, toasts with strawberry jam and butter and that's it, every day the same, not even a choice of jam. When you want to shower in the evening, there is no hot water anymore. Towels are only replaced every 2 days

Just spent 10 days at Athinie, a bit of trepidation because of previous reviews. Its not The Ritz, but for the money we paid through booking.com we thought it good value. Fantastic location bang in the middle of everything overlooking the harbour, so it can be a bit noisy at weekends if you leave the windows open, but there must... More

We arrived to find that our rooms were both occupied and in available. The owner had arranged accommodation in a lesser hotel with no views, as we had been promised. Quite sure the owner is a liar and rented our room out at a better rate. No choice but to take the alternate rooms for the first night. When we... More

Be warned! This hotel cares about nothing but money. We book a double room but they gave our room away to a walk-in because they could get a better rate for it. They put us in another room but then when we were out the next day they moved our stuff without permission and put us in a tiny room... More

The hotel is in a very good location, in the old harbor of Chania. The price is very low, we paid 36€ per night for a double room with private bathroom. The room was nice, with an amazing view. Bad points: small bed and tiny bathroom, air conditioned not working (it was blowing hot air in July!) and it's in... More

We had found them on booking.com and called them to book a room and avoid the intermediaries. We changed afterwards the check in date and we were secure that we would be given the room with the same price 2 days later. We arrived 10 in the night to be informed there was no vacancy and that there was nothing... More

This was the last hotel we chose before returning to the major city of Crete after 8 weeks travelling the islands - and it was the most amazing!! If you're looking for 5 star then this isn't it. However, being opened as an hotel in 1659 there isn't a level floor, the steps are all different heights and our toilet... More
