Staying at Mame Nena was like having your own home in Chania - warm and relaxing environment, feeling welcomed by Matina and Diana, hot pot of coffee always ready in the kitchen, open room and kitchen spaces, comfortable bedrooms and incredible views of historical Chania harbour. This was one of the most relaxing times that I have enjoyed here in... More

We stayed here for a week over New Year 2015, and can absolutely recommend the Mama Nene. As bed & breakfasts go, it is in a league of its own, not just because of the tasteful decor, but also because the house has a wonderful family history and feels very loved by Matina, who restored her grandmother's house with such... This is truly a lovely place, we stayed here for 10 days in November for my birthday, exquisite decoration trendy but feel of the venetian is still there. We had balcony room on 1st floor, great walk in shower, comfortable bed, and french doora with shutters open to the harbour views. There was still plenty to do, most restaurants were... More

Yeah. What everyone else says about Mama Nena’s is true. Here’s how to find it. The hotel’s at N35d 31.002’ x E24d 01.104’. It's on a pedestrian-only street. If you take a taxi to Mama Nena’s, the driver will likely let you out next to a Starbuck’s (October 2014) at the SW corner of El Venzelou Square. Walk past the... More

I think we found the best place in Chania, and, at risk of repeating what everyone else has said, dont hesitate to book this fantastic B and B. We stayed in 'Stella" which is the whole of the top floor and includes the sun terrace at the back, overlooking the narrow street in the old town, and with the bedroom... More

Believe all the hype...... can't recommend this hotel enough. A superb base to visit the numerous beautiful beaches and what a gorgeous port to just chill at night, just see the photographs they don't do it justice. A special mention should go to the family that run Mama Nena..... they will do all they can to make your holiday a... More

I can't recommend this beautiful unique "Boutique Hotel" highly enough. Our room in this most charming hotel had a balcony where we could sit and absorb the view of the harbour as we enjoyed a cold glass of wine. It was tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. Martina our host was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast... More

Mama Nena is a wonderful restored house on the water front of Chania Harbour: the location, rooms and views are superb. The hospitality, and generosity of the owner is beyond fault and the wonderful breakfasts cooked by Diana is amazing, you will not go hungry. The whole experience is truly unique and one that I have hope to repeat soon.

We were late driving up from Herklion. Maneuvering our rental car up and down the dark and narrow streets of Chania, repeatedly running into "do not enter" signs was no fun. Dragging our wheelies over ancient streets raising noisy havoc only added to our frustration. And then, there was Matina, standing in the street with Cretan cheerfulness and laughter to... More

We were returning to Chania this year for our second visit to Crete, having fond memories of the city and its atmosphere and food, and we were looking for a hotel that might offer something a little different and special. We were lucky to have discovered Mama Nena’s on the harbour, and would absolutely recommend Mama Nena’s as a very... More
