The owners, a couple and daughter, are very sweet, very helpful. They sat with us and explained the attractions around in details. It was nice to get acquainted with them. The location in in the centre of Agios Nikolaos but in a quiet alley, our room was large with a balcony with view to the sea.

We stayed at the Mantraki for a week September 2014. The hotel is in a nice quiet location near to the centre of Agios Nikolaos (not all are) and just a couple of minutes from a small clean beach for swimming. The apartment was a good size, clean, bright and relaxing with a separate bedroom and toilet/shower . Everything worked... More

The hotel is not modern. That is not a criticism it is praise. It does not have the same kitchen you have at home but then you are not home - your on holiday and if your making more than toast you need to go out more :o) The hotel is the most friendliest hotel in town and we have... More

Picked the Mantraki as it was close to the beach. When we arrived (after a very hot day) we were welcomed by the owner with a cold drink. She spoke to us about the apartments and some of the places and restaurants to go in Agios Nikolaos. It was very informative. We had an apartment with a view of the... More

This is my third visit to Crete. We live in Seattle. It is an 11 hour time difference and a long plane ride, but Crete is worth it. The first year, we were exposed to Agious Nicklaus on an Oceania cruise.. Last year, we stayed at the mantraki as a couple of rabid semi-retired tourists. Cruises just give you a... More

Great hotel apartment close to a sandy beach. It is basic but very clean and has everything that you require which is all we wanted. We were a family of 4 staying for 14 nights and was very comfortable. It had a nice terrace overlooking the town and sea (room 403), air conditioning, very quiet even though main street is... More

Our stay in Agios Nicolaos would not have been so great and nice had not it been for the wonderful and hospitable family` Costas, Maria, Leontini.Thank you, dears !!! As for the hotel, the location is great, central but quiet, close to the blue flag municipal sand beach, harbor and within the walking distance to the lake, shops and cafes.... More

We had just arrived in Crete and our hired car was misfiring so we were advised to call in Agios Nikolaos to change it. We had no clue where we were going and attempted a steep hill opposite Manraki apartments. The car kept slipping back and the owner (Costas) came out to see what was happening. To cut a long... We stayed for 2 nights, it was nice place to stay. Some renovation could help, but for just sleep and short stay it was fine. Parking facilities and located in a quiet location. We also had a nice sea view.

We prefer to stay in old towns in the Greek Islands, as one feels part of something, rather than the, admittedly often superb, beach hotels out of town. Mantraki is a great base; close to the harbour, an excellent blue flag town beach and also the many shops and restaurants to wander around. For us, after several weeks hopping around... More
