We have just returned from a two week stay at this family run hotel. It is situated above a 600m sandy beach within it's own bay with turquoise water. All rooms seem to face the sea with great views to the distant mountains behind Agios Nikolaos and Elounda. We stayed in a Superior Rooms, which is middle of the range... more

A hotel set in a prime position with wonderful views from the rooms. Hotel is rather negleted and dowdy with no heart. Food was mediocre but not as good as expected after reading their preview of menu had hoped for a little more imagination. Stayed in a superior room which despite the outstanding view was shabby and staff reluctant to... more

Staying at Istron Bay was exactly like being trapped on a senior cruise ship. My boyfriend and I were beyond miserable and even shortened our Crete trip by one day because of this Hotel. It is beautiful but somewhat insane. Literally everyone there was 75 plus. There is nothing around the hotel for miles. Everything is done in groups and... more

My young son and I stayed here for four nights in a superior class room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. On the luxury scale, I'd give this hotel 3 stars. It could use a cosmetic makeover. It has it's own private beach, which was lovely. The food was good, and the salt water pool was one of the largest I've... more

We spent two nights at Istron in August. Our first impression was that the location of the hotel is absolutely stunning, with great views of the bay below and surrounding mountains. Definitely a place to relax. However, the interior was a bit of a disappointment; everything seemed kind of old, including the rooms, with its dark brown furniture and old-fashioned... more

We stayed at Istron Bay Hotel in middle August, and we enjoyed it. The average is a 4 star hotel. The hotel is located in its beautiful own bay, so you wouldn't experiment the crowd as in all other parts of the island. The beach is large and they provide you with facilities. Even on the most crowded day you... more

We stayed at the Istron Bay Hotel for 3 nights in June. Its a large hotel with its own private beach and all rooms have sea views. We requested a standard room and were upgraded on arrival to a larger room with a seating area. The room was spacious and clean with its own mini bar and had both a... more

We ve stayed there for a week. Me, my wife and our tow small children, have stayed in an appartment on July 2007. The view was beautiful, the cleaning was just typical, so was the breakfast, the meals in the tavern were nice as the menus, the dinners in the a la carte restaurant some times could not be eaten, but... more

Lovely family friendly hotel. Great food and lovely pool / private beach. Only slight criticism is that the superb restauarant overlooking coast was very hot - but apparently there was a heat-wave in Crete then and normally breezy (it got better as week went on). The beach bar / Meltemi restauarant is superb - right next to the sea and... more

We honeymooned for a week in June 2007 at the Istron Bay, and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is approx 75 km from Herlaklion, and nestled in a hillside overlooking its own private bay. As we honeymooned during term time it was mainly couples and a few families with young babies / toddlers staying, however even during the height... more
