When checking out also other hotel with the same price, this wasn't so nice. The only thing we liked here was that our room was in the highest floor and we had a terrace. Location not so bad if cos you are near the metro station. You can also walk but the area isn't the best and a little bit... More

Plus point is that it is near to the Omonia square where 2 metro lines meet. Rooms were enough for 2 ppl. Toilets and bathroom were attached. Ac and wifi works very well. Toilets and rooms were neat and clean. Elevator is small. Only 2 ppl can come at a time and if somebody is having backpacks and so many... More

The hotel is situated in a perfect location, 200 m from the metri station and 20 min on foot from Acropolis. Omonia square is a safe place today, do not worry, even at night nobody ever bothered me although I was alone. The hotel is clean, rooms are cleaned every day and there is a fridge and A/C. But most... More

Its a hotel to be at when you neeed basic accomodation. Pros: central location, omonia square, near bus stops metro station etc, good price last minute booking. Cons: bad view from room, no hair dryer.

Travelling with a group of people can be tricky but this hotel accommodated us really well. Nicely located 5 minutes from a main square and metro station it was easy to get everywhere we wanted. We even managed to walk home from the main attractions without feeling exhausted. Air-conditioning in the rooms and complete Wifi access was brilliant. The rooms... More

Rooms were cheap as chips here. The area is in a goo location tight near the main square. The hotel rooms are quite old and small but had a balcony and a working AC and WIFI. You get what u pay for in this hotel. Good for a quick lay over between places.

It is said that Omonia ceased to be a respectful area. I paid 222 euros to stay at Hotel Vienna for six nights, and never felt unsafe in the area. Rather this place is very convenient and lively. Omonia is near the city center, and two metro lines meet here. There are many good and reasonably priced eating places here.... More

Pros: 1. Exactly 200 m from Omonia Square metro station, approximately 5 min walk, which makes it very convenient to most major archaeological and tourist sites, especially because Omonia Square is on two different metro lines. Omonia Square metro stop is also the closest station to the Greek National Archaeological Museum which displays the Antikythera Mechanism and Agammemnon Mask. All... More

My wife and I stayed at the Vienna hotel for three nights while in Athens, prior to flying home. It is a family run hotel, the staff are friendly, able to help with any information being asked by the guests. They all speak excellent English. The rooms are standard, quite clean, HD TV, shower stall, two elevators. It is in... More

Very helpful staff who told us about where to get the entrance tickets to the tourist sights and how the one ticket can allow us to go to 5 other sights (e.g.: Acropolis, etc). Told us which route to walk and which route not safe to walk. The hotel is very near the Omonia metro station which links you to... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
