Hotel nefeli was our choice in Athens because of its location. Nefeli is in plaka area which is perfect tourist attraction of Athens. The hotel was a clean and nice with friendly and helpful staff. When we left for Santorini, they gave us breakfast before 6am. We didn't expect any more. The service was good and breakfast was tasty. I... More

We stayed here 4 nights (we had booked online before arriving) and I would suggest you look elsewhere for accommodation. One of the only things that Nefeli has going for it is its location close to the Acropolis, other nearby sights, and the bus stop. Beyond that... The room we had was a small, dungeon-like space with two single beds.... More

The hotel was perfect for walking around the city! Close to the Metro and to a ton of dining/shopping facilities. The evening staff was very pleasant and super helpful! The rooms are typical, older, Nothing fancy, but clean and thats what matters. The breakfast wasn't huge... but free breakfast is free breakfast right? We really enjoyed our stay!

My family spent our last night in Athens at Hotel Nefeli prior to flying home. It was a great choice due to its proximity to Syntagma square where were caught the Metro to the airport. This hotel is one block away from shopping, restaurants, bars. It's really an ideal location. Basic, but clean and comfortable.

Just flicked through some reviews and see people calling this a budget hotel.. I'm aware this hotel has some basic rooms but we booked an executive room and it was still a bargain. The room seemed very clean from the bed to the bathroom and even the balcony. Housekeeping replaced all our stuff daily. During our stay there were two... More

Nefeli hotel is an excellent little budget place in the middle of Plaka, but on a quiet side street so not much noise. We slept comfortably and in silence. We were able to get to all the major tourist attractions by foot, we never had need for the public transit! There are excellent restaurants nearby and a good cheap €2... More

The best thing about this hotel is definitely the location. It's a short walk from the major sites and only two small blocks from one of the lovely pedestrian streets in Athens. It's also a really short walk to Monasteraki and Sytagma Squares. I took the bus that brings you from the airport to Sytagma and was concerned about arriving... More

Room is quit small and impossible to have a shower without flooding everything. Unfortunately it is really noisy! People are very nice. Location is great. You can enjoy places to visit and also places to go out. Going to casino at mont parnes is great thanks to the view on Athenes city! The quality/price is good.

We are an older couple 65+. This hotel is also older, but clean. Its location is excellent with easy walking access to all major sites: Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, Dionysius' Theatre, Plaka Neighborhood, Hadrian's Gate and Zeus' Temple, Syntagma Square, National Gardens and more. Service and advice from staff was very helpful (a compact easily folded map of Athens they gave... More

Stayed over in the hotel whilst swopping flights in Athens, as love to have diner at night in the plaka area and not be stucked at the airport.Hotel in is the middle of the plaka area, short to Syntagma square,Acropolis. Rooms are basic but clean. Very friendly hotel staff. would recommend the hotel to explore Athens.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
