The staff was very kind and friendly. The location is simply the best in Athens: right behind Acropolis, close to the Flea Market, Parlament, Syntagma Square, etc. At night after dinner, grab a bottle of local wine at the markets and bring to the rooftop of the hotel. They have a nice view to Acropolis and this can be very romantic. A... More

Do not stay here can be my only advice. I did go for "budget" but this was ironically more expensive than most other hotels I stayed in while visiting Greece so I wasn't expecting what I found. No lift and a hike up the stairs with heavy luggage. A single room the size of a postage stamp, peeling paint, holes... More

The location can’t be better, you can do everything on foot, from the top roof you can see the Pantheon. Room is a little bit small and bathroom needs some improvements, but with you need only a place to sleep and like to be very close to all the attractions, go for it. On Sundays there is no breakfast. Very... More

Arrived from Istanbul overnight in Athens then off to Rhodes, checked into room and was told we had to pay an extra 5Euro, not off to a great start, the person at the desk wasn't real good with English, room was small but ok, tiny shower , make sure you order breakfast the day before otherwise you will have a... Family with two children staying in the top roof room. Small, but well organized. Everything that you need, very clean and outside the terrace with a view over Acropolis. Very nice staff. Good location. In the midst of the historic Plaka and close to Syntagma and Monastariki.

Stayed one night at the hotel. The reception was awful and the receptionist made little effort to assist us . We asked about breakfast , were told that we could have it on the top floor of the hotel. In the morning only to be told that we should have ordered it the previous night. Hotel room is ok, but... More

Perfect stay. Very well located, in Plaka, the most touristic area of Athens, at a walk distance from Adrianou Street, the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, the subway and bus stop, Syntagma Square, and Monastiraki. I got the budget room and everything worked perfecty, including the wifi. There is a nice terrace with a breathtaking view of the Acropolis, especially at... More

I recently spent two nights at the Kimon Hotel Athens at the start of a two week trip to Greece and Italy. I spent a *lot* of time looking at hotels in the central area of Athens before i settled on the Kimon Hotel. First off, location -- plaka is really the ground zero of the tourist area in athens.... This hotel has a great location. You can walk everywhere. We had hot water the first morning, but not the second. If you would prefer to take a taxi to the hotel, you should get one yourself. You will save 15 euros. If the hotel calls the taxi for you, it is 40 euros to the airport. If it is... More

Without repeating what was said below: clean room, clean renovated bathroom. Friendly staff. Great location, a few minutes walk to Syntagma Square and bus X95 to the airport. Right on the edge of Plaka on a quiet street. Great value for the money. I will return and send my friends there. On the down side: no elevator, but make the... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
