I know why the hotel had mixed reviews. It's rough around the edges and not in the best part of town. But. If you want a v cheap place with rooms that are clean, comfy beds and pillows, changed good towels, friendly staff on reception and literally the metro and a 24 hour cafe/bar on your door step then this place is excellent. For such a price in a capital city this place is outstanding. Don't forget it's 2 star, not 5. There's even air con. Bonus. Oh and if you're travelling there get to Metaxourgeio metro station on the red line and exit via Diligianni. The hotel is less than a minutes walk from the top of the escalator. Take a right cross the road look up and you'll see the vertical sign for hotel Cosmos. Easy to get to acropolis station back on the red line or a 15 minute walk back to the city centre. Only gets 4 stars because it could do with a refurb. But that would no doubt increase the price.

Absolutely awful area. So unsafe, surrounded by homeless people and hardcore drug addicts. Smell of smoke looms through the hotel, although claiming it is a non smoking hotel, door doesn’t lock. window open in bathroom when we arrived. Just felt totally unsafe and had to leave after half an hour, Save your money, go elsewhere

Clean, comfortable bed. Very helpful, generous staff. Powerful shower (necessary in the heat and grime of Athens). Quiet aircon. Was able to store some luggage longer than the allocated stay time. Good price.

Hotel was down a quiet street, close to a square. A good restaurant close by. Was close enough to walk to the Parthenon (20-25 minutes), as well as other squares, districts and markets. That was it. Hotel reeked of old smoke. You couldn't turn on the a/c in the room, it only came on if the room temperature was 26 degrees. Open balcony doors, car alarms going off every 3 minutes. Cleaning ladies sliding beds down the hallways at 7 am, walls paper thin. Hard to get 4 hours sleep in this atmosphere. Asked for a cab at 3am the night before, get to front desk, told phone lines don't work? No cell phone? This was a cheap sleep in a not bad location, you get what you pay for.

Had everything and more that we expected, in a better area than many others that are more expensive, and room was spotless, delighted with the ability to check in at any time and check out until 11 gave a great overall impression and a happy stay.

Terrible area, dumpy hotel (it is clean though). Bizarre - the check-in clerk handed us a room key and a remote for the TV. Said we had to return it when we check out. Still can't understand why. Is a guest/thief going to walk out with a stolen TV? We checked out after the first night - having not slept due to worry of a TV thief? in the area. Awful and bizarre

Hotel Cosmos is an excellent hotel in its category (2**, so don't expect a luxury hotel). Our room was simple but clean and had everything we needed (air condition, fridge, good wifi, TV). The room was cleaned daily and shampoo, soap and toilet paper were always available. Our room had a balcony with a view on the street. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The metro station is very close and there are good restaurants and fast food places nearby as well as several minimarkets and a supermarket. Very recommendable and not pricey.

I would actually give it 3.5 stars but had to round up to 4. We needed a clean, cheap place close to the train station, and this fit the bill. The room was clean, although it smelled of smoke (most of Athens smells like smoke!). Beds were comfortable, shower was hot, and the wifi worked. Certainly nothing fancy, definitely a utilitarian hotel. Dated, for sure, but for one night it was what we needed. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Very Clean Great friendly helpful staff Good rooms and separate bathroom... excellent hot water! Fridge My only complaint really is that there is no facility in room, or even on each floor to make a hot drink... even just a kettle and cups and supply own tea/coffee etc... The drinking cups in the room are a bit pathetic as well.. Other than that.. it's ok... nice and close to the Metro and plenty of eating options close by. A friendly travel shop around the corner where you can buy ferry tickets to the Islands. Mini Market across the quiet tree lined road!

Well after a lengthy expensive trip though Paris, Barcelona and Santorini, we arrived in Athens and wanted to save some money. This hotel choice was just based on cost and location. The hotel is clean, quite and safe, the rooms are small but for some reason the balconies are really big; This really was a positive attribute as you could sit out side and have a beverage. I have no issues with the hotel at all, it was all great value and clean, however getting to the hotel at night can be a little sketchy. We never encountered anything bad but the surrounding neighborhood is just run down. There is transit near by and it would by-pass the area but like i said we walked every night and never had a problem. If you want to save some money i would recommend the hotel Cosmos.
