Had a terrible experience, booked the standard rooms and they were dated with sockets coming out of the wall, heating which did not work and damp in the wardrobes. Beds were however comfortable. The very tiny bathrooms which are not the ones in the photos of the hotel were disgusting with cracked shower cubicles, dirty tiles which were chipped, shower... More

Located on Apostolou Pavlou amongst numerous cafes and bars this cafe bar could often get overlooked. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable. It is a nice spot with a view of the Acropoli to spend some time relaxing. Varied choice of teas on offer, which is sometimes hard to come by. Toilets are clean. Downside is the many birds... More

The service here is great! We had difficulties with the television, the attendant came up to our room and showed us exactly what to do. The beds were comfortable and the price was great! They provided maps of the general area as well as directions on how to get to the train.

We stayed in August 2015 as a couple. We were given a very nice room with a small but cozy balcony with a great view of the Acropolis surroundings. The room we were given was very nice and the bed comfortable. The hotel is located on a pedestrian road right in the center of Athens and it’s perfect for people... More

Location is very good for tourists. Acropolis is just a 10min walk from the front door and lots of restaurants around. Price is quite reasonable for one night stay and breakfast is included in the price. Room was very small but doesnt matter at all since I wanted low budget solution.

Have been here once in Nov 2014 and yet coming back in a month. The only hotel on the pedestrian route to Acropolis. Clean rooms, nice hall, comfortable cafe, kind staff, good full buffet breakfast. Amazing location in the very hearth of the pedestrian area at the very base of the very Acropolis hill. Have your breakfast or ouzo drink... More

I spent 3.5 nights here and enjoyed it thoroughly. Apart from the hiccup with the internet connection in my room, which was very unstable to say the very least (but worked well in the hotel lobby and restaurant), everything was fine. As a solo traveller, the size of my twin room was fine. I loved having the east-facing balcony so... More

I have just returned from Ios in Greece. I travelled with five friends. We spend our first and last nights in the Phidias Hotel in Athens. I have stayed in many hotels over the years but can honestly say I have never experienced such professionalism. The staff at this hotel went out of their way to make sure our stay... More

I booked this hotel on Agoda. It looked nice and was in a good location, and the reviews were good. I had to change my original booking which I did with Agoda and e-mailed the hotel directly. I received an e-mail from them saying it was fine. When I got to the Phidias, they had no record of my booking. I... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
