We spent one night in this cosy hotel in the Plaka area. The location is super convenient : near the most important historical sites ( Acropolis and the acopismuseum). The rooms a re spotless and quiet and the owners and their staff very personable and helpful We highly recommend this hotel

We love Athens and we've have been staying at the family run Athos hotel regularly for a number of years. The rooms seem to be competitively priced and are comfortable and clean. The situation is ideal for the Plaka and Greek Antiquity, and a very short walk from Syntagma square and airport bus stop. We like to choose a double... More

The location was awesome (we weren't interested in luxury) we just wanted to get around easily. We found the staff friendly and liked our room and found it functional even though it was tiny. However, the hotel is very noisy in the morning if you want to sleep in and there is a loud sound coming from the generators outside... More

The reviews were right rooms are really tiny, had to put the suitcase in the closet, rooms are so small no way 2 people can be in at the same time. so it ideal for people who just want a place to sleep and spend all day long outside. The location is excellent and the mattress was surprisingly good quality.... More

I booked this hotel just three weeks out, when there were very few rooms remaining available in Plaka for the dates of my stay. The central Plaka location is a big plus, as the hotel is located on a quiet side street a short walk from Syntagma Square. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had booked the top... More

We stayed here twice; on day on each end of our trip passing through Athens. Excellent location near the metro & close to the sights. Love that this is in a quiet neighborhood yet still walking distance to everything. Helpful & welcoming staff. Clean room, comfy bed. Nice view. Very effective AC, and good shower. This hotel provides a typical... More

We found the hotel a bit dingy to be honest, the aircon wasnt on in the reception area when we arrived (and we were roasting with two kids) and the aircon in our room barely worked. it isn't a hoteI we really wanted to come back to so we stayed out most of the day - staff were very nice... More

The hotel is in the heart of the city which is why we chose the hotel. All the major places of interest and shopping areas were only a few miles away. The hotel was clean, cozy and comfortable. Kudos to the the management and staff.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
