We asked for a better 3-person room. It was a good size, with a good bathroom. The hotel is renovating progressively, and it is important to get a renovated room! The location is very good, only a few minutes from the main subway station/airport bus. Very helpful staff. Breakfast is ordinary. Wifi is good. Several reasonable restaurants nearby. Construction work... More

We had stayed at Myrto Hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located at excellent location with close proximity to various places like Plaka, Acropolis, Parliament, Temple of Zeus, Panathenaic Stadium, Syntagma square etc. It is very convenient to reach this place from Airport by X-95 bus which starts from airports and ends at Syntagma Square. The rooms were very... More

We were looking for affordable place to rest a couple days for our trip to Athens, and Hotel Myrto fit the bill. We booked the family suite, which had two rooms and were quite spacey. The rooms were clean and we had no complaints there. The rates include free breakfast downstairs; the food is the same everyday, but it sure... More

This hotel is in an excellent location...walking distance to most site and just a few block from the metro. The staff is super friendly and helpful. My only complaint stems from the lack of amenities. No iron, ironing board, and blow-dryer in the room. Had to request from the front desk. The rooms have no space to put things out... More

If you're not looking for a bunch of bells and whistles - just a basic room with enough sleeping space and enough room for a few suitcases, then this is EXCELLENT! Fast & Free Wi-Fi, TV with a bunch of channels, we were on the 5th floor which had an itty bitty view of the Parthenon from our back window,... More

We had a room on the second floor overlooking the street. Had a decent balcony. Apartments across the street. There was no street noise once the sun went down. It's a few block from all the nightlife in a nice quiet, safe neighborhood. The room was quite large and the bathroom was nice. I read conflicting stories about the condition... More

Good hotel in great location, definitely value for money. We were lucky enough to have a renovated room, breakfast was good for the money we paid, would definitely stay here again. Close to Syntagma Station and the staff were very helpful with recommendations and what to do, Georgina helped us alot in organising where to go during the day.

We arrived April 2015 to find our room was just dirty mattresses on the floor, cracked sink, mouldy ceiling, ancient pillows which were just balls of foam, terribly stained carpet, broken doors & tables and chairs, cables hanging out of walls - shocking, not as the photos on their website. We had no choice but to change hotel as I... More

The Hotel Myrto is conveniently located in the Plaka region of Athens, close to Syntagma Square, buses, the metro, many restaurants and tourist shops, and just a short walk from the new Acropolis Museum and the Parthenon. The hotel employees are very helpful and cheerful, and will go out of their way to help you enjoy your time in Athens.... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
