We caught a taxi at the cruise ship dock and it was only $13 Euros to the hotel. This is an excellent location, just two blocks from Omonia Square. You can purchase a ticket for the double-decker yellow tourist bus at the hotel. Only 15 Euros per person and for TWO days, you can ride the bus and hop off/hop... More

We spent 3 nights in this hotel in July 2015. We had an executive room, which was GREAT! We had a nice view to Acropolis and had a change to relax in the sun at our nice sized own balcony. However all the executive room balconys are right next to each other with only small fences in between, so we... More

I was told I was given an upgrade when I checked in, but my room didn't have a view nor was there anything nicer about it. The hotel is located in a kind of sketchy neighborhood, which made walking around by myself a little scary. Also I found it more expensive and inconvenient to get to/from the ferry and airport.... We had family room in 8th floor. Small, but ok room. Functional, clean and even with duvets. Nice roof top bar. Friendly staff in the reception. Good for us one night before going to the airport and home.

We booked a 2 night stay in Athens as part of a 2 week island hopping trip around Greece as part of our honeymoon. This was a great place to stay as it was close enough to walk anywhere but not right in the square by Parliament House. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was AMAZING!... We stayed here on July 16, 2015 for a day/night. The staff is wonderful...warm and welcoming. We wanted for nothing! It's a straight 25 minute walk to the Acropolis...and what a beautiful time exploring and seeing the Parthenon! The restaurant on top of the Polis Grand gives a stunning view of the Parthenon, especially at night, all lit up! Will... More

We got there quite late at night. The taxi driver warned us not to walk around but to take a taxi somewhere safer. We took his advice with a grain of salt as usual and went out for a walk. We were sort of horrified by the neighborhood which was decidedly gritty and thought maybe we had made a big... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
