We (family of 4) stayed at the Central for 3 nights and feel this hotel is a good value. We had 2 adjoining rooms, 1 with a view of the Acropolis, for a very reasonable nightly rate. The hotel is close to the Plaka and most major sights but still on a quiet street. We walked to all the major... More

This hotel is very central and in a great district in Plaka. It has free wi-fi and parking with good service from helpful staff. The rooms are slightly small but are about the size needed and was sufficient for the two of us that were staying for 4 nights. The shower and bathroom were decent. There was a reasonable choice... The location of this hotel is great - very central. Our room was okay - decently sized, with a small private balcony, but faced the interior street and wasn't up high enough to have an Acropolis view anyway. The roof deck bar, however had great views and pretty good drinks. Breakfast was quite good.

We spent 6 nights here during a vacation to Athens. The location was perfect for us and convenient to the Metro and tram. Located in the Plaka district and we walked to almost everything we did. Our room (506) had a view of the Acropolis if you went to the window and looked to the right. The room was small,... More

Location, Location, Location. You will walk outside the hotel and you are in the middle of the action. You'll be a close walk to plenty of good day-time sightseeing. All the good sightseeing--ruins, beautiful architecture, ancient buildings, and museums. Beautiful big balcony. The hotel has a restaurant/bar on the rooftop with a nice view for a romantic dinner/drink. Lots of... More

We really enjoyed the location, the rooftop view of the Acropolis, and the staff. The room we stayed in wasn't fantastic, but there wasn't anything bad about it. More importantly, it was clean. We would stay here again if we came back to Athens.

The rooms we had were brilliant. On the first floor, which was very convenient given that there is only 1 lift for the 8 floors and takes just 3 people so can be a wait at times, especially if visiting the fabulous bar at the top for the view of the acropolis. Staff very courteous and helpful. Missed not having... More

Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. We had a family suite which suited our family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 teens. One of our rooms had a view of the Acropolis. The rooms were simply appointed but sufficient. They are small but this isn't surprising for a European hotel. One of the rooms had an AC that didn't work... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
