Loved this hotel for location and sky top lounge. The hotel is in the Plaka district and you can easily walk to most everything from here. The Plaka area can be a bit crowded, busy and noisy but this hotel was on a very quiet street...perfect! The rooms are adequate and very clean, but maybe a bit cramped (didn't bother... More

Great hotel, amazing rooftop view of Acropolis. Rooms are clean, bathroom is bit small but other then pretty good. Only 3 min walk to Plaka, which is the center of everything, street filled with restaurants, flea market, good location. At night the blocked seemed bit creepy but it was safe. 10 min walk to Acropolis, national garden, and Olympian Zeus... More

The hotel was a little gem. Very warm reception, perfect location (halfway between Plaka and Syntagma Square) and very comfortable rooms. Breakfasts were excellent. The rooms were small, but this seems to be true for many Athens hotels... the upper floors had better views and felt less cramped than those on the lower floors. The hotel bar with its view... More

we stayed for 3nights and enjoyed our stay in the hotel and in the city as well. Our room 502 was small but really nice, clean....breakfast also nice. What we really liked about the hotel was its central position...like 15mins by walk to Acropolis, 5mins to closest metro stations..restaurants. shops...If you are travelling for 2-3days or its your first stay... Delightul clean, quiet hotel. Spectacular rooftop bar with Acropolis view. Lovely breakfast. Very helpful staff. Walking distance to metro and all historic sites of Athens. You can't go wrong staying here -- halfway between Syntagma Square and Montiraki Square.

Absolutely brilliant place!!! Excellent location and service. The rooms are very clean and modern. The view from the roof terrace bar is simply stunning and breathtaking. We stayed in a room with a magnificent view of Acropolis. We will definitely come back to this hotel!!!

I recently stayed at Central Hotel Athens for 3 nights. This hotel offers a great value for the location. The view of the Acropolis from our rooms was amazing. The rooms were a little small for two people, but enough space for one person. They were neat and clean. The staff was delightful and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was... More

We were given a very small ground floor room. The air conditioning did not work - and if the windows were opened you would have stray cats running to get inside! We spent one very ubcomfortable night here with a somewhat unhelpful staff. Would not recommend. First night was ok -but it was a lot cooler outside. Second night the... More

It was a nice hotel, decent breakfast, decent room (albeit a bit small). But overall no complaints. The view from the rooftop was good, and there is a jacuzzi on the roof, unfortunately we came too early for it to be open. The location was good as it was very near Syntagma Square and Monastiraki, we had an early boat... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
