I am pleased to recognize AVA Hotel and, in particular, Maria Kokkori, who is the manager of the hotel. Maria is an extremely helpful and highly organized person. Because of her and her exceptional skills, my stay at the hotel was wonderful. I am very grateful to Maria, and I am especially happy to have this opportunity to publicly say... More

Room was good, stayed in an Executive Suite. Well taken care of, beds comfortable and location is excellent. The microwave was missing from our room although advertised. Not a huge deal but there was also an unfortunate occurrence badly handled which left a bad taste. They offered us an upgrade when we arrived for a certain amount which we took... More

...is the word we heard over and over again during our stay. The location is great and so is the cleaning standard, but what really sets this hotel apart is the service. What every you asked for the answer was always "Yes of course"...Everyone in the staff was extremely friendly and helpful - everyone went out of their way to... More

We chose the Ava Hotel because it was rated #1 by Trip Advisor travelers. Great location in the Plaka area, within walking distance of restaurants, sites & shops. We stayed in an Executive Suite with views of the Acropolis, Hadrian Arch & Zeus Temple. The room was very spacious with a kitchenette & living area and small balcony. We were... More

We stayed here for our 3-day visit to Athens and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is absolutely ideal for seeing the Parthenon, museums, and Plaka. Our room was perfect and the daily breakfast was unbeatable!

We just returned from 10 days at the Ava hotel. The staff was extremely nice and went out of their way to be helpful. Housekeeping was fantastic as well. The standard suite was quite large, and included a kitchenette, which was very convenient, as we wanted to have our own breakfast, and pack our own lunches. The hotel is an... More

My boyfriend and I spent two nights at Ava in December. It's in a very convenient location, near local attractions as well as lots of restaurants. The staff were very helpful, buffet breakfast was delicious and the room was extremely spacious with kitchen facilities included. We received complimentary champagne on arrival and they had DVDs available to rent for free.... More

This is a fabulous hotel. From the check in staff to breakfast staff everything was outstanding. When we saw where the hotel was located, we were very excited as we were right next to the Plaka and the view from our balcony was of the Acropolis - you couldn't get better than that! The suite was very tastefully decorated and... More

Although the hotel is located in a very busy place you cannot feel the noise inside the hotel, the location in Plaza, is excellent in a walking distance from acropolis and many interesting places to visit.

We were very comfortable here, and liked the location -- convenient to good restaurants, cafes, and of course all the sites near the Acropolis. It was also convenient to some metro stations. We easily walked from Syntagma Square when we arrived there from the airport. The staff were friendly. We did not have the breakfast because we found that we... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
