We spent four nights in 301 and hated to leave. The staff people all were great, helping with reservations and special things like anniversary flowers. The breakfast is complete with cooked to order eggs and breakfast meat. The location simply can't be beat; one way Hadrian's Arch, the other a view of the Acropolis, near to restaurants and shopping in... More

Excellent hotel, located in the best area of Plaka, just in front of the Arch of Adrian and close to the Acropolis Museum. The rooma are big and the servíce is excellent. María booked for us excellent tables in the best restaurants of Athens. It is important to know that there are very few common areas and that it does... More

The Ava is a small boutique hotel located in the Plaka District in walking distance to the Temple of Zeus, Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, Hadrian's Arch and some great alfresco dining options. We stayed in room 304 which was a studio suite with a little built in kitchen and plenty of space. It did not seem the type of hotel that... More

The service here was exceptional. Because it is a small boutique hotel the staff were very friendly and never failed to say Good Morning or ask how our day/dinner/etc was. They helped with a reservation for dinner, gave us directions and maps, and got us taxis very often. .

Lovely boutique hotel with very spacious rooms. We had a one bedroom suite with a very large sitting room where our 2 teenage boys slept. The bedroom is also spacious. The location is just fabulous, in the historical centre of Athens. Situated in Plaka, in the shadow of the Acropolis it was perfect for our 2 nights there. The only... More

Stayed for 5 nights after a recommendation from friends. Location is the best - less than 5 minutes to the Plaka and Hadrian's Arch. Excellent rooms - we had a one bedroom suite and a normal suite twin room for the children - superb. Thanks to Mina and Maria and the guys too - you made us feel very special.... More

Our driver from the airport told us we were staying at the best hotel in Athens. We have to agree. The hotel is in an ideal location to most of the sites, the Acropolis is very close and Hadrian's Gate is at the end of the street. The Plaka is less than 100M from the front door. Great rooms, super... More

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in Athens at the AVA hotel. We got in early and the staff was very accommodating in getting our room ready early and while we waited, suggested a great little cafe to get an iced coffee with a view of the Acropolis that we would be visiting the next morning. They also gave... More

I had taxi drivers tell me that Ava is the best hotel in Athens. The reasons are clear when you book here. Location is great. Hotel is very clean. Rooms spacious. Staff were all exceptional. The breakfast was fantastic. The hotel isn't so big that it becomes unmanageable. We will definitely be staying in Ava again on our next visit... More

The pros: really well situated next to Plaka, nice view, nice rooms. Cons.- Very impolite staff for I dared to ask if our room was ready and the guy answered us " If you want me or you can go to help them so they hurry up" that gave us the worst impression. I've been coming to Greece 15 years... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
