Very nice modern hotel - appeared to be almost new. We had a “Supreme” room with big double bed, loads of space and storage, very quiet, massive bathroom with jacuzzi bath and in-bath multi-jet shower. Helpful Reception. Nice roof-top bar and pool - opens as restaurant at night, with views of Acropolis and Mount Lycabettus. Good breakfast in nice restaurant... More

Good hotel. Highlight was the rooftop pool and restaurant from which the Acropolis is visible. The restaurant staff was very friendly. The kids even swam in the pool. Very close to Omania Square from where we could catch the HO HO Bus.We could walk down to the Palaka area but it was a good 30 min walk. The hotel was... More

This place is a small gem in central Athens. The rate is low compared to the other snooty five-stars. While I would not rate this as 5-stars as Priceline and some other sites do, I'd say they are a solid 4-4.5. The service is excellent and they can provide all amenities needed. Great rooms, quiet and great wifi, satellite tv,... More

I spent four nights in Athens and because I like Melia hotels I decided to book Melia Athens. The staff is very professional and helpful, but the room it was just ok (clean but small, and the bathroom looked outdated). The positive side was the hotel is central located within walking distance from all touristic attractions.

A nice full service hotel in the city centre, with the tourist sights a short to medium walk away. We were able to walk to the Acropolis and Plaka easily enough with a toddler in a pram. Plenty of cabs if we didn't feel like it and there's always a cab available in front of the hotel. Breakfast was good... More

Hotel location is picture perfect. Very near to metro station. All historic locations in nearby vicinity so one can just walk and visit. Overall rooms are very good... Breakfast was amazing with good number of options We loved the place... Our room was upgraded with jacuzzi but somehow it was not working.

All the staff is extremely friendly, since the check in until the last day. The location is ok, not where all the tourist action is but walking distance or a short taxi ride. The room is comfortable, good amenities and excellent Jacuzi bath tube. Large and airy with plenty space for everything. There is a pool with an amazing Acropolis... More

We stayed here for the first 3 days of our honeymoon before moving on to Mykonos. The Melia Athens is beautiful, with a very friendly and helpful staff and wonderful rooms! It was our first time overseas. Every detail of the rooms, from the soft beds to the no-fog bathroom mirrors to the cleanliness and housekeeping and mini-bar, was awesome.... More

I booked Melia through BA holidays because it looked terrific and had what I needed - 5* rating, a central location, breakfast included, swimming pool & gorgeous-looking rooms. It totally delivered! The staff were polite, knowledgeable and efficient. The bedroom and bathroom was spotless and the entire building was attractive and inviting. The breakfast was marvellous, having a huge choice... Staying in Exarchia

Neighborhood Profile
Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
