This hotel was a wonderful bargain. We paid only $72 a night including breakfast and taxes. The original ad said they had free wi-fi if you joined their frequent stayer club but it turns out you have to stay at least once. However they had wi-fi in the lobby and in the breakfast room and around the pool and that... More

This place was amazing. I just wish it were in an area that was closer to all the tourist attractions. The area looks scary but it really was not. The walk to the metro was quick and actually, it was walking distance to the Plaka area. My friend and I were just walking around Plaka and out of no where... More

The hotel is in an undesirable part of Athens near Omonia Square, however, we did not seem to have any issues. It is a short walk to Omonia Metro Station and about 1.5km from Syntagma Square. Happy with the location but if too hot or you do not like walking or catching the Metro best to consider more central hotels.... More

The hotel itself is nice - we've stayed in Melia hotels on several occasions in the past and this one certainly met our expectations. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If there is one suggestion that I can give to the management, please consider not charging your customers for wi-fi - in this day and age that's just feels... More

Had a very nice stay at the Melia Athens. The hotel is lovely and has a nice view of the Acropolis at night from the sky lounge. The food in the sky lounge is good, but if you want authentic Greek cuisine, you will need to venture out into Athens. The staff was helpful and suggested good areas to go... More

We recently spent a night at Melia Athens on our way through to the Cyclades. The hotel is lovely and clean and very modern with everything you might need. The staff were helpful and accommodated our requests. The view from the roof top pool and bar is fantastic and feels a world away from the busy city below. We had... More

Although a bit crowded at times the rooftop pool and lounge made our stay extra special. Although we didn't eat there the meals looked nice and the drinks were good. Our room was well designed and the bathroom modern with a jacuzzi tub and spa shower, but you might need some help to figure out how to take a shower... More

We booked the hotel well before our stay for one night only, and were pleasantly surprised on check-in with an upgrade to the Executive Suite. The hotel is well located to get around, very clean and neat and serves a good buffet breakfast.

Ok Hotel with decent rooms, Not in City centre (Plaka). Front desk extremely complacent, non cooperative. Can absolutely not manage group chk in, even groups as small as 15 people. Really sad as they have charged for infants !!!!!!. Even charged for kettle to heat up water even though no coffee or tea or sugar sachets were asked for. Kettle... More

Staying in Exarchia

Neighborhood Profile
Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
