We spent 8 days at the hotel. The front desk staff were always courteous and helpful. It is within walking distance of Athen's main attractions, just next to the market and less than a 10 minute walk to the Plaka area. We were away for a couple of days on a tour and they stored our luggage for free. The... More

First the positive: Location is central and rooms are relatively clean, including bed sheets. Other than that: Very basic and simplistic. Bathrooms are tiny and in need of upgrade. Shower can't properly fit even a medium-sized adult. Breakfast is bare bones. Not a single offering of fresh fruit or vegetable (and that is in Greece!) And above all, if you... More

This is a budget hotel but it punches way above its weight. The room was well sized and clean with small TV and fridge and good Air Con and decent free Wi Fi. The bathroom is very small but you get used to it. The bed was comfortable. The area looks run down but it is not as it appears.... More

This hotel is excellent. My room provided everything I needed. It was clean, quiet and comfortable with a fridge and free wi-fi. The breakfast is good for the price and the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. And there was the added bonus of drinks on sale at reception at kiosk prices. Some may think the location of this hotel -... More

Good budget option, close to Monastiraki and Ommonia station. Walking distance from major attractions. Nice, clean rooms and a superlative customer service . The breakfast was nice with a decent spread. Good budget option for an Athens stay.

1. Location - excellent location! 3-4 min walk to Ommonia station and 7-10 min walk to Monastiraki (and the monastiraki station). For first timers, Monastiraki is where you start walking up the acropolis (aside from the acropolis metro station). Anyway, the hotel is near the market where you can find lots of olives, fruits, nuts etc. 2. Room not that... More

If you want an excellent budget hotel, stay here. Rooms are comfortable, as are beds. Quiet due to soundproofing. Very clean. Great location - 1 min to Hop on Hop off bus and 5 mins to central markets - fruit, veg, cheeses, meats, fish, bread. Breakfast buffet basic but definitely adequate in a very nice breakfast room. Terrific staff especially... More

The hotel's location is great: walking distance to most of Athens' attractions and close to 2 metro stations (Omonia and Monastiraki) The staff was very helpful and extremely friendly, they even gave us advice on where to go and where to eat (and the advice were just perfect) The room we stayed in had a nice view and was always... Getting to Economy Hotel is fairly easy and it is about a 10 minute walk from the metro station. It is in walking distance to the Parthenon and all the major sites in Athens. The staff are incredibly friendly and so knowledgeable about Athens and Greece, which absolutely loved. The room I stayed in was basic and the bathroom was... More

We visited the hotel with 26 students from a danish highschool. The rooms were plain, but clean and breakfast was good. You could not expect such good service for such a low cost at a 2 star hotel. Just to make it perfect, the hotel has a rooftop terrase with great view over the city.

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
