We stayed as a couple for two night in last week of August. Best part is its location as the hop-on hop-off stop is bang opposite the hotel. It is about 6-7 minutes walk from metro station but safe and convenient even with heavy luggage. Based on previous reviews we had apprehensions about the locality but they proved to be... More

I love this hotel . This is my last day and I'm sitting in the breakfast room having coffee, gorgeous Greek yogurt and hot freshly made bread with ham and cheese. The location is superb as you can walk to all attractions. You can go up on the roof with a nice bottle of wine at sunset and watch the Parthenon... More

The name is well suited. Friendly and helpful staff. They have a great map. Use it since most sights are nearby and you can easily walk without bothering about metro, taxis etc. It is just of the Athinas street which gives connects to Monasteyraki square which is the heart of the city.

Stayed in a single room for 2 nights. It was small but sufficient. Positives: - It was extremely clean - I was very happy and surprised how spotless it was and linens were really white! - Location is awesome - only a few minutes from Monistiraki Square and Ominia Square metros, which are very central to important sites. It is... More

Me and my Girlfriend have just returned from a weeks stay at Hotel Economy, first of all let me tell you that we both got this hotel for £140 each including breakfast, which is absolutely fantastic. On arrival we were given a map and told where we could find most things in the city, which was a huge help. I... More

The economy hotel has a 24 hour reception, free wifi and clean rooms. The rooms are basic but a decent size. We stayed for 2 nights and the location is great. 15 min walk from the Acropolis and 5 min walk from the main shopping district. If you're just looking for a place to rest your weary head at night... the 2 men at the front desk spoke English well and were exceedingly helpful. They gave me information on buses, tickets, taxis and more. the hotel room is near Omonia; we had a room with a balcony, but it is was quiet because of the soundproofing windows. Also close to town hall and the fascinating indoor and outdoor markets are... More

Lovely clean hotel in great location, 10 min walk from Monastiraki metro station which is on the same line as the airport, and Piraeus port. Room was clean and quiet. Very helpful reception staff. Great breakfast. Overall, great value for money and would definitely recommend.

I stay here once a year and there is no other hotel that is so near to the subway station Monastiraki and the Acropolis. It has clean rooms and good prices. The breakfast time ends at 9:30 o' clock which seems to early to me.

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
