I booked a triple room here in July. The room was very well decorated, including bathrobes/ slippers, very comfy bed, lovely bathroom and had a balcony. The location is superb, during our two night stay here we never needed to use public transport - everything is in walking distance, including all the shops, bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. The staff... More

What a fabulous family owned hotel! This is a lovely boutique hotel in the most perfect location, with service going the extra mile. We were a family of 6 travelling together and they ensured the 3 rooms were on the same floor and one was connecting for the children. They also arranged our taxi to the airport and we left... More

Arrived after wonderful week in Santorini. The rooms were not what we booked. Our teenage boys had to share a double bed! For 3 nights! The breakfast was good but some of us used a local cafe for the coffee. The location was fantastic, close to everything. The room was very small with the door touching the bed when it... More

If you prefer, small boutique hotels; easy to find and well located with an excellent, friendly staff, would definitely recommend Sweet Home in Athens, Greece. We arrived at the height of the pre-referendum, 30JUN for 4 nights. Hopped the X95 bus direct from the airport to within 4 blocks of Sweet Home, finding it easily from their directions. Rooms were... I can't recommend this place enough. We had the most amazing time on our honeymoon. Beautiful rooms. The most amazing staff we really liked their local tips. Great location by shops and a few minutes walk to the metro. The breakfast is great too.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 3 nights and were really happy with this find! The location is PERFECT, it is within walking distance to everything therefore saving a lot of money on transport! The staff were very helpful and showed us all the main attractions to visit. The room was clean and tidy, only problem was that our... More

My husband and I travelled from Zakinthos where we were on a 2 week holiday to Athens for a 3 day break and stayed at the friendly Hotel, it was at the recommendation of Carol the owner of the Garden Village Appartments in Zakinthos. I must say we were very pleased, the hotel was perfect and the staff were lovely... More

Arrived after a 10 hour flight. Concierge Aphrodite was awesome. The bed was amazing and we slept wonderfully. The breakfast was excellent. The entire staff was helpful and considerate. Walk out the door and syntagma square is five blocks. Placa is two blocks away.

We booked this hotel after reading some really great reviews about it and having just spend 5 nights in a traditional style hotel in hydra we wanted something a little bit chic. When we were dropped off out side the hotel i wasn’t really sure what to expect as it looked really small but once inside I was pleasantly surprised.... More

This hotel is in an excellent location, although slightly tricky to find. The hotel itself is beautiful with lovely little rooms. The staff were happy to help both with finding a good restaurant and with our bags. They also helped us with our travel to our next destination. I would definitely recommend it.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
