This hotel is like "only for a sleep" kind of hotel. GOODS: No bedbugs! Sheets and towels changed daily. Big balcony. Pretty clean room. Location. Receptionist. Price. BADS: Small room. Shower was cranky. TV broken. Air conditioner broken. For the price: Its good!

Terrible hotel. It is very dirty, they offer services they do not have, as an air conditioning that it does oft work, a wifi line that it is impossible to connect or a tv that has just one channel. The staff is quite unpolite, they do not help you anything. We have a problem with the reservation, because of they... More

Horrible. This hotel did not have a room for us when we arrived, they made an overbooking, something normal for them if you read other reviews of travellers. We had to wait until the next day to get our room, we wanted to register a complaint but no book was offered. We were told they do not have book for... More

This place is vile, walked in to a guy smoking an the building stank. First booked 1 bed room was told I would have to wait for my next day to get in it as they double booked or something. So was told what room I was in wasnt shown just told then as soon as I opened the door... More

Where do I start? Male receptionist was rude and obnoxious. He openly yelled at both us and the guests before us for unreasonable requests such as why the poor unusable WiFi, air con and payment via card which are all advertised online are not available. The room which was booked was not available, dividing the party. I understand you get... More

Alma Hotel is a very budget place to stay in at one of the centres of Athens- Omonia. Even though there is no air conditioning in the rooms, they are all with big French windows so that it is spacious enough to ventilate the room. The beds were comfortable enough for a good night sleep (might need earplugs if you... More

Arriving exhausted at 11pm we were not helped in anyway about how to get to the train together to our ferry on time the next morning at 6am. I had a slight argument with the man at reception as I thought my card had already been charged. The room was very basic and boiling hot. A terrible sleep.

I stay here very often. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, wifi is included, and the rate is the best bargain in Athens. Steps from the metro and convenient to everything. There is no pool or fitness center. Hence the average.

Yes, we knew of the neighborhood. We even opened the lobby door and it bumped a guy about to shoot up. Omonia is full of thieves. But the staff was great. They placed a few calls for us to inquire about bus times. The room was on the 7th floor, so the views from our private balcony were more skyline... More

We stayed in the Hotel Alma (having not checked Trip Advisor first because I wasn't the one booking), and to be honest, its not a great hotel. The location is in a reasonably poor but improving area, but due to the high number of students and anarchists in Omonia, there is often trouble. On the night we arrived, a protest... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
