The Amazon is less than 5 minutes walk from Syntagma, the very middle of Athens, and the nearest metro stop. Very handy to walk to the Acropolis etc. A really good variety of restaurants nearby too. The hotel is comfortable, not at all noisy, althought central. The room was fairly small but well decorated and comfortable bed. Reception is a... More

Superb location! Hotel is worn and dated. Lobby is nicely maintained, but room was not. Carpet stains, uncomfortable beds, small bathroom - sink was about 12 inches in diameter. From airport metro/train to Syntagma Station exit station, look for McDonalds, cross the street and one block to the left of McDonalds is Mitropoleos St, walk 5 minutes or less a... More

Location of the hotel is just perfect to explore the city. Top restaurants and nice bars, wine places, and clubs are just around the corner. It is close to Syntagma square where many sightseeing activities start. Also it as a metro station as the best starting point to explore the city on your own.

Mid-Afternoon arrival on Wednesday and early morning departure Thursday for Mykonos. Staff friendly. Taxi prompt for return to airport. Visit was so brief we only had time to eat and sleep. King room was comfortable. 2nd room with twin beds less updated. No views. Keep eye on thermostat as it turns off during the night.

Had 3 rooms for 1 night stay in Athens. Choose this for good location & price. Close to shopping (the Plaka) & transportation. Nice quiet street. Breakfast buffet was good. The 3 rooms were different sizes. We asked for 2 beds per room. We got 2 triples & 1 doubles. Bathroom sizes varies. The triples had larger size plus bathrooms.... More

I really enjoyed this hotel. Great location, comfortable beds and great pillows. We had a triple room for 3 adults. The room was a bit small, but not by European standards. They have lots of storage. Only down side is the shower. It is tiny, I am a chubby guy, but even my partner who is not chubby felt it... More

Located right in the center... but in a quiet street. The room was great with acropolis view! However the manager at the reception was least helpful. Any question asked was answered as if he was doing us a big favor. Even though the stay was comfortable, don't think will ever go back thanks to no hospitality shown at the reception.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel was very clean and also the hotel staff was very friendly. The hotel was renovated recently. The only negative thing is that the hotel rooms were very small. This hotel is located within a walking distance from Syntagma square and metro station. It's very near to Kolonaki, Plaka and Monastiraki.

The rather small room we (father and son) were alocated consisted of two twin beds, some cupboard space, a bag bench and bathroom with toilet. If one wanted to sit down it was either of the beds or the toilet. The shower recess was very small. When one dropped the soap a little manoeuvring was required to retrieve the soap.... More

On their website they show pictures of new rooms, we received an old room with dirty karpet. Stains all over the floor. The shower is dated, its from the 70s. And also seperate beds. So please book at an other hotel in Athens. Been before to Best Western hotels. There it was good. Here the management of the hotel lies... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
