The location of this hotel could not be better. Close to Syntagma Square, the Plaka and Monastiraki. The room was clean and comfortable but rather small. We had a balcony however which was very pleasant and gave additional space. Breakfast was good and the presence of a guest relations person to assist with travel plans and recommendations was a very... More

The hotel is ideally situated in the Plaka area and in proximity to most of the antiquities, syntagma square, shopping area and monastiraki. Rooms are clean, ours was smaller than we expected though. Breakfast was very good for a 3* hotel with a large selection. Staff were very helpful and especially the guest relation ladies Eva and Maria. They went... More

My room was very comfortable and well furnished. My bathroom was bright with lots of shelf space. A hair dryer convenient by mirror, a refrigerator and a free personal safe. Lots of good eating places close to hand.

We needed accommodations for one night in Athens and booked the Hermes Hotel. We found that it was a central location in the Plaka area. The rooms are cozy and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you stay at his hotel you can also take advantage of the roof-top bar at their sister hotel the Plaka that... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2015. The hotel is located in a good location, few blocks away from the Parliament. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Breakfast was included in our stay. The rooms are small. The elevator is very small and is usually in use- so be prepared to walk up the... More

Stayed six nights. Great for people who will not be spending too much time in the room as the rooms are compact but have all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Most powerful shower I have come across. Punches away all tiredness and the last vestiges of sleep in a jiffy. Excellent spread for breakfast. Very child friendly. The play... More

My husband and I were honeymooning in Greece last month and we stayed 2 nights at Hermes. Unfortunately, an hour into our honeymoon my husband's phone got stolen from Syntagma Square. This happened while we were on our way to the hotel from the airport (we took the train - bad idea if you have a lot of luggage. Better... More

Excellent location, right in the center "Plaka", walking distance from Akropolis and countless tavernas and cafes. Also very close to the parliament building and one of the main squares in the city. The hotel features small but clean rooms and rich breakfasts.

The Hotel Hermes is in the Planka area of Athens. The Acropolis is in walking distance as are many restaurants and shops. The rooms are a nice size, clean and quiet. Breakfast is included and it provided a lovely buffet with many choices. Of course the Greek yogurt rock's! It's sister hotel the Hotel Planka a few blocks away has... More

For the price this was an excellent value. Great location and very helpful staff. If I have a complaint it is that the breakfast room is very warm, but a minor hitch. Make sure you go one evening to the sister hotel Hotel Plaka. The view of the Acropolis at night is amazing.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
