We got into Athens in the afternoon and left the next day at 11am. I chose this hotel as it was very close to the Plaka district and easy to walk around most of the tourist sites. It did not disappoint. We caught a 95 bus from the Airport to Syntagma Square and found the hotel quite easily with the... More

This hotel is modern, clean, comfortable and has a great location in the Plaka area. The complimentary breakfast was honestly one of the best breakfasts of my life and we didn't get to taste everything because we had to leave early to catch a ferry. They actually have breakfast available at all hours for guests that have to check out... More

The breakfast is fantastic, fresh Greek yogurt, lots of honey and other authentic Greek food ! The bed is hard, made sleeping a little difficult. The is an elevator but it wasn't working the day we checked in. The hotel is modern and the staff are very friendly

Overall, i am at best indifferent to our stay at the Hermes Hotel. It was adequate, not great. The positives: check-in was easy, it had strong shower pressure, a strong air conditioner (when not turned up considerably hotter in our room by the staff, unrequested by us), was very clean, with a large and modern lobby/with different sitting areas and... My cousin and I stayed at the Hermes Hotel in the Plaka in June. It was in the absolute best location in the city center. Rooms were clean and comfortable with huge bathrooms. The rooftop had an amazing view of the Acropolis. The daily breakfast offers many options and is fantastic. The neighborhood has winding streets with great tavernas and... More

Great location, nice room, excellent breakfast buffet (eggs, cold meats, cheeses, breads, Greek yogurt, juices, etc) We were a short walk from the Acropolis, which was very convenient. Our room also came with a "welcome plate" of baklava.

The hotel was conveniently located, clean, offered a computer with a printer if needed, and the room was a good size. Our check in process was made even better by the staff member, margarita (?) who was helpful and warm. I was so impressed by her. The only reason I can't give this five stars is due to one of... We had 2 interconnecting rooms - spacious enough for 4 people to congregate in the larger room. Very clean - only downside was the couch in one of the rooms had a funny odour. Very pleasant lounge area on the entrance floor where you can have tea, coffee and biscuits. They offer the best breakfast (even better than 5 star... More

Clean and up-to-date. On a quiet street away from the bustle, yet within easy waling distance to Plaka restaurants and shopping, the Acropolis and Syntagma Square and museums. Great breakfast. Very friendly and very helpful staff.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
