Basic service hotel (bed and bath) in the heart of Monastiraki. Ideal place for Athens exploration. The owner and his wife always helpful and kind. Kitchen included if you are in need of the morning coffee. Wifi included.

Very clean hotel right in the heart of Athens (Plaka!). Everything you need with incredibly friendly hosts. Also very strong wifi. Would recommend it to everyone. Great value for money. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else if I'd come back to Athens!

We stayed one night in this hotel so we could catch the plane from the Athens International airport the next day. The room was basic but that didn't bother us because we only needed it to sleep. We checked in, left our things in the room and went out to eat something. When we came back, we went to bed... More

Dear Greektraveller87, I am suprised to hear about the incident about your luggage. This is the first time we have heard of such case. I can assure you that this is not something that happened from our staff or within the hotel premise. More

Great location in the hearth of Athens and good value for money. Although the room was very basic, we enjoyed our stay. What else than bed and shower you might need in the hotel on your holiday? We didn't need anything else! :-) Thank you Tempi hotel!

Hotel canceled my reservation on the day of arrival because for some reason "the card did not go through" and rebooked me at the hostel near by (with a slight discount). It was very stressful and the room at the hostel was not nice.

I booked this hotel online thinking I got a deal in an easy to get to area. This ended up being a nightmare. There is an elevator that is designed for luggage only. It only works between the first floor and the fourth floor. I believe that the hotel has three modern decent floors and one horrible floor on the... More

On the day of my arrival I was informed that my credit card had not been accepted and therefore my room was booked by someone else. The thing was, that I was informed about that by email. I was really lucky to check my inbox just before I left home, otherwise I would end up in Athens in the middle... More

This Hotel is basically a Hostel. There was a bathroom in the room. You could shower and use the toilet all at the same time. The bed had a pillow and a sheet. There was AC and it did work. The hotel was within walking distance to the Acropolis and many places to eat. If you are on a budget,... More

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighborhood Profile
Monastiraki
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
