We used this hotel to stay for one night in Athens before our flight to the island in the morning. For this it was perfect - right in the buzzing city center with loads of cafes, bars and shops around. Really friendly service and good wifi connection. Room was ok for one night and had a balcony with a view... More

The location of this hotel could not be better! So close to all the sites and right in the middle of the hustle and bustle that gives Athens it's personality. The hotel is VERY basic but that's reflected in the price and once you meet the staff you won't mind. The staff were all so helpful and so friendly it... More

Basic, older rooms, friendly staff, perfect location near Monastariki. Beware of the noisy street. Bars just across from the hotel. Do not forget your earplugs. You will enjoy the location with easy access to everything, including the airport. Check the top floor for a great view on the Acropolis and Lisbetta Hill.

Myself and two friends stumbled across this place over the weekend and it turned out to be the perfect place for us. All of the staff members were very kind and helpful. The room (a tripple room) had plenty of room for the three of us, and a view of the Acropolis from the balcony. The location was in the... More

Travel date: Jan'15 How to get there: Take train from Athens airport (train located outside the airport) to Monastiraki Station. Just a 5minutes walking distance. Train fare from Athens airport to Monastiraki station: EUR 7 We reach Athens, earlier than we supposed to and luckily this hotel is still available. We agreed to pay additional EUR 3 for a private... This hotel is located at the very center of the city of Athens, most of the major sightseeings are at a stone's throw from it, so it's extremely convenient if you plan to move around by your own pace! Plus it stands right at the square of Agia Irini, with many nice cafes and restos in proximity. The rooms are... More

You get what you pay for: this hotel is very good for backpackers who wants to share experience with other similar tourists, they have a roof top where you can hang out with people around the world. The crowd is from 20-25. Small room but pretty clean, with a small CRT TV set, we have a small balcony to view... More

My sister and I, both in our upper twenties, chose the Tempi for our week-long stay in Athens. WONDERFUL location... the Acropolis was visible from our room's balcony. Train/ bus routes were easily walkable... really everything was walkable. We always felt safe in the area no matter the time of night. No breakfast served but I think that's actually a... More

Great location, economical and super friendly staff. Our family stayed in Athens at Hotel Tempi for five days. We had a great time and found the location of the hotel perfect for getting to all the attractions. The hotel owners are warm and welcoming and were there to help with whatever we needed. Highly recommended!

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighborhood Profile
Monastiraki
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
