A basic hotel with a very hospitable staff! The location is more than perfect. Amongst shop, cafe's and restaurants and right beneath the Acropolis. A perfect place for a few days sightseeing in Athens! 75 metres from the metro station Acropolis!

There is no better location in Plaka and breakfasts looking out at the Akropolis are indescribably beautiful. The bed was very comfortable (made of memory foam, I think). The price for the room was very reasonable for Athens' high season, especially given where it isand the staff were very friendly. That said, the room I had was small with only... More

For several years my husband and I have enjoyed this hotel. The rooms are quite comfortable, but the bathrooms small. The location to the Acropolis is just a 10 minute walk, to the new wonderful Acropolis Museum only a 5 minute walk. Now a small but nice breakfast is provided for just a very small fee. Management could not be... More

Broken bed that make lot of noise at every movement. The fridge is next to the bed and make lot of noise.Stinking smell from the batroom. No hangers in the shower to hang towels. No place for soap. Lot of mosquitos. DO not get decived by the roof top breakfast, it is very cheap. When we told the owner he... More

The hotel is in a great location but that is the only positive point. The bathroom was dirty (soiled toilet when we arrived). The beds were small and uncomfortable and the room felt very dated. We paid €80 for one night and I would recommend choosing a different hotel if at all possible.

The Hotel Byron is not far from the Acropolis and from some rooms there is a view of this icon of Athens. We stayed in a compact cheaper room which was comfortable and clean with cupboard hanging space,  one bedside table and a dresser with drawers. There was a small fridge and a tiny TV but the picture was good... More

This is a nice hotel for the price. It's a bit old and not a great standard, but the location is perfect. You're close to a lot of the things you would want to see in Athens. And I you want you can have breakfast on the rooftop with a lovely view of the Acropolis.

If you are not looking for luxury, if clean sheets&towels and comfy beds are enough for you and if you want to stay at the heart of Athens, this is definitely your hotel. It is a two-minute walk from the Acropolis metro station and 3-4 minutes to the Acropolis. There are a lot of good restaurants, cafés and bistros nearby.... More

This hotel represents exceptional value and a perfect location as long as you are prepared to make a few sacrifices. The rooms are basic but clean. The showers are passable if a little testing and smoking is allowed in the building so if you come from a country where it is banned you may find it challenging. Breakfast is basic... More

The hotel is less than a minute walk away from the metro, acropolis, shops, restaurants, museums, 5 minutes to the temple of Zeus. It offers basic amenities. Shower, TV, WiFi, lift, heating and air conditioning. We traveled with our two younger children ages 3 and 6. We all had a good stay. The reception was very kind to print the... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
