We stayed at Airotel Parthenon in Nov 2013. The hotel arranged for our Cab Ride from the Airport themselves and arranged the pick up service. The staff is extremely warm and courteous. The location is excellent. It is situated in a little side street and very close to the main Plaka area. Very quiet and charming street. The breakfast was... More

Hi, we stayed at this hotel for 8 nights while visiting Athens and several excursions. The hotel staff are genuinely friendly and go out of their way to accommodate guests. All were attentive and ready to please. The hotel itself is not up to date but still very acceptable considering the location and price. It was nice to have a... More

Fantastic location, close to underground, lovely restaurants nearby. The staff go out of their way to help and are very friendly. Breakfast choices are great and would definitely stay here again. It is within walking distance to major attractions.

We are a group of 6 who stayed a total of 2 nights. The first night we stayed there was on 9 April en route to Santorini. The weather was pretty cold and we weren't aware that there was supposed to be a thicker blanket in the cupboard (which our room doesn't have) so we were freezing in the room... More

The title says it all: First Class Staff, First Class Breakfast, First Class Location !!! :-) The only improvements that could possibly have been: 1) Bedding - When I got into the room it looked to me as if there was no blanket/quilt and that the mattress was relatively thin (I don't know what the mattresses are like in other... Nice hotel and location, though a little dated. Rooms are average and could be cleaner but the overall feeling in the room is quite comfortable. Cleaning should be improved especially in the bathroom as it looks bad on the hotel. Internet is not always there and needs updating as well. Fridge in the room did not cool and needs to... More

There is little not to like about this hotel. Like they say in real estate location, location, location. Around the corner from the Metro and the Parthenon as well as the world famous museum. It is also next to the old city and parks which are all must see in Athens. Couple this with an inviting helpful staff, great rooms,... More

This was the second time we had stayed at this hotel. It is very conveniently situated close to the Acropolis Museum and the Plaka district. The room we had specifically requested has a view of the Parthenon and Lycebetus Hill from its terrace. The breakfast is first rate, extensive and caters for different tastes be it continental or something more... More

I stayed here for a weeks' business trip, with my sister joining me for 4 days' sightseeing. The location is superb, not only close to the Acropolis, but also the metro which is cheap, efficient, and will take you wherever you need to go - including trams (and buses) on the same day or week-long ticket. Facilities are perfectly good... More

Very nice hotel with best location and a amazingly friendly staff. A hotel like this makes you want to go back. Rooms are not the biggest but clean and with ok beds. Location right beside all of the things you want to see. Many of them within walking distance.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
