Had a wonderful two day stay at this hotel and the staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Whilst the accommodation was a little tired it was spotlessly clean and in an absolutely prime location and we would certainly book here again.

This hotel was in a great location to see the sights of Athens. A short walk from the Parthenon, there were great restaurants close by and it was also convenient for the metro and buses. Hotel staff was very helpful and the free breakfast was excellent.

Family and I stayed here in June. The hotel is just around the corner from the Acropolis metro station and the New Acropolis Museum. Staff were very helpful. Lobby is gorgeous. Snacks in the lobby. Breakfast buffet was pretty good. Free wi-fi in room, but a little hit and miss at times. The room looked dated and the carpet was... More

While the location of this hotel is superb (extremely close to the Parthenon), the service here was very average. The night staff was excellent, while the day staff was poor to put it mildly. I asked the front desk to call me a cab to the airport and I was informed that the price would be 5 euro more than... More

Another great experience in Greece! The staff went well above and beyond accommodating us and the lobby was beautiful. Rooms were fine (nothing special) but overall good hotel. The best part? Location. Especially for the price.

I was here with my wife between 9.6.2015 to 12.6.2015. The biggest advantage of this Hotel is the location. You step out of the Hotel to the main street and on your left is a beautiful walk right up to the acropolis, and if you keep going straight you'll reach monastiraki.. If you turn right once you're on the street... More

While the room was not extremely fancy, it was clean and well appointed. There was a good shower in a marble tiled bathroom. There were large towels for the bath and medium sized towels, but there were no washcloths. Soaps, shampoo, and conditioners were provided. There is a large balcony, but not much of a view. The beds are comfortable--two... More

I was traveling with my husband and adult daughter. Staff was very nice on arrival. The room we received was nothing like the one shown on the website. It was more like a dorm room with three twin beds and the view from our room was less than desirable. Room was clean and since we were only there for one... More

The location is a 5. It is right in the middle of everything, but on a side street so no loud road noises. A block from Parthenon and Parthenon museum, lots of restaurants at your footsteps, 10 min from the olympic stadium, 10 minutes from Ancient Agora, 2 blocks from metro. These blocks are short blocks too, so really a... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
