People that leave bad reviews for places like this honestly just don't understand and shouldn't be reviewing places. First off... this is a BUDGET hotel!! So rate it as a budget hotel. I paid $64 USD per night when I stayed. If you want to complain about the room, the breakfast food, the internet, then go up the street to... More

Let me begin by saying the only good thing about this hotel is the location but the rest is too terrible for words!the curtains in the rooms have never been washed they are grey from years of dirt instead of white! and the smell in the room is so musty, the carpets are very old and the entire room just smells... This was a blind booking where you don't know the hotel name until after you booked. This is not close to a 4 star, it's generous calling this a 2 star. Booked a quadruple room but this was a triple room that they added a small fold away bed, luckily a 6 year old was sleeping there so it was... More

I'm rating Astor Hotel as excellent not because is a luxury 5* hotel but because all these years I've choosen to stay there either with family or friends, the service is excellent, staff always friendly and helpful, rooms clean and breakfast freshly made. The location is just perfect! 2 minutes walk from Syntagma and the metro station. 5 minutes walk... More

As long as you don't mind a run down, wall paper falling off the walls, out of date decor, 2 staff managing a bustling breakfast restaurant, a lack of adequate seating for guests at breakfast, then this centrally located, with a great view of the Acropolis from the 10th floor breakfast restaurant, will do. This is not the cheap, simple,... More

We had a good stay in the Astor and it has a couple of very good points in its favour. The location, so close to the main square and access to the METRO system is a benefit. The roof-top breakfast area has wonderful views to the Acropolis opposite. The food quality at breakfast was also pretty good. The general state... More

We loved our stay at the Astor Hotel. Our room had a queen size bed as well as another single extra bed. Wifi was available for free only at the lobby area. Breakfast was also included in our room rate of Eu:65 with a wide selection which was just superb. The hotel is just 50mts off the famous pedestrian shopping... More

Had no choice but to stay in this hotel as all others were full due to the Athens marathon. Was shocked at just how much they charged for Friday 07/11 and Saturday 08/11. At 350 euro per night (it's 81 euro on any other night) I would have expected perfection. Perfection this place is not! The positives: Only one really,... More

Good location 5 min walk from Syntagma and 10 min walk from the metro. The rooms are recently renovated and clean.Nothing fancy or luxury but the service is professional. Adequate for our needs. The view from the breakfast room is spectacular overlooking Acropolis. Reasonably priced.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
