This hotel is in a great position and the rooms are fine staff very helpful but the the carpet of the roof top breakfast room is really dirty and shows a lack of attention to an area that should be up to scratch given the nightly room rate. The hotel was updated in 2008 but it is already showing signs... More

The hotel pitches itself as 4 star, but is nowhere close to being 4 star. Key issues being: - Broken shower holder, meaning you have to hold the faucet in your hand whilst showering. Upon complaining: told by staff that all the hotel's shower holders are in the same condition. - Faulty flush in toilet: Water kept running. After incessant... More

The only positive things are (a) the location and (b) the clean room. I reserved a single room, but still although clean it was very small for a 4-star hotel. Breakfast was poor for a 4-star hotel; I noticed in particular that the tomatoes and cucumbers must have been sliced from the previous day; they were dry and so old.... More

Great central Athens hotel, with view of the Acropolis from bedroom, good room, clean bathroom, good breakfast from roof top restaurant with Acropolis in the view. Very near all amenities, buses, trains Tec, although easy walking round tourist areas as well.

People that leave bad reviews for places like this honestly just don't understand and shouldn't be reviewing places. First off... this is a BUDGET hotel!! So rate it as a budget hotel. I paid $64 USD per night when I stayed. If you want to complain about the room, the breakfast food, the internet, then go up the street to... More

Let me begin by saying the only good thing about this hotel is the location but the rest is too terrible for words!the curtains in the rooms have never been washed they are grey from years of dirt instead of white! and the smell in the room is so musty, the carpets are very old and the entire room just smells... This was a blind booking where you don't know the hotel name until after you booked. This is not close to a 4 star, it's generous calling this a 2 star. Booked a quadruple room but this was a triple room that they added a small fold away bed, luckily a 6 year old was sleeping there so it was... More

I'm rating Astor Hotel as excellent not because is a luxury 5* hotel but because all these years I've choosen to stay there either with family or friends, the service is excellent, staff always friendly and helpful, rooms clean and breakfast freshly made. The location is just perfect! 2 minutes walk from Syntagma and the metro station. 5 minutes walk... More

As long as you don't mind a run down, wall paper falling off the walls, out of date decor, 2 staff managing a bustling breakfast restaurant, a lack of adequate seating for guests at breakfast, then this centrally located, with a great view of the Acropolis from the 10th floor breakfast restaurant, will do. This is not the cheap, simple,... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
