A great location for a reasonable price. Convenient for the sites/sights & only 2 minutes from the airport bus stop & metro for easy travelling. Great basic place to stay, especially for a short stopover before or after flights to islands. The room was comfortable & clean, we had a very friendly & cheerful maid, other staff were equally helpful... More

The Arethusa hotel is in a prime location for visiting all the sites in athens with good transport connections to the Airport (direct bus X95 - €3.20) and Piraeus Port (Metro - €1). Located on the corner of Syntagma Square, it's an easy walk to the Parliament, Museums, Plaka shopping area and the main sites such as the Acropolis, Agoras... More

I read the reviews before we left and I was not expecting a lot. This Hotel is old but with loads of character. Our room was OK and as others have commented, the shower was quite small but with loads of hot water which made it forgiveable. Room was clean and tidy and made up each day. The two lifts... More

although hotels in Omonios were much cheaper, we were deterred by comments about the area. Our Greek travel agent did the same and recommended Syntagma Square area instead. On price, she suggested the Pan hotel, but it was full during our planned stay. As an alternative, she then recommended the Arethusa, although it was a bit more expensive (she also... More

We stayed at the Arethusa for 3 nights. The best I could say is that the rooms were very clean. The room itself was quite spacious and although we were on the 6th floor we had an opening window to let in some fresh air and sunshine. Tjhe bathroom surprised me that it could fit in a toilet, shower and... More

A very old style Greek hotel - basic as it gets. The bathroom is not very enticing at all. Radiator leaked. Beds surprisingly comfortable even though small. Couldn't get aircon to work. Looked out onto back of a concrete building. No tea making facilities but there is a fridge. The breakfast offering was a very pleasant surprise. We asked to be... More

I have stayed in the Arethusa Hotel many times over the years. It is centrally located, just a few steps from Constitution (Syntagma) Square...It is fully air-conditioned and the rooms are very clean. You can hear the noises of the city...horns, cars, buses, etc., but the location is so good and usually you are so tired at night...sleep comes easily.... More

The hotel has a perfect location, in Syntagma Square and in the heart of the city, 3min walking from Plaka, 5min from Acropolis. The staff was very kind and friendly (as all the Greeks :-)). The room was big and clean but a little bit old, it can be acceptable but at a lower price maybe. Bathroom was fine, big... More

Amazing how experiences vary! We thought the room very ordinary and tired looking- we could hardly turn around in the bathroom-but that seemed typical of Greek hotels. The public areas-reception and dining room were very pleasant, the breakfasts ordinary; the lifts tiny. It was EU election weekend when we were there-we could hear all the noise from Santagma Square-til 2... More
