Our room was not ready when we arrived, so we were treated to a Greek coffee next door at their cafe. The staff was very friendly and the room was wonderful, although we didn't have a view of the Acropolis. However, the local bar was having a band play the night we stayed, so we had Greek music to add... More

Before we arrived the hotel, I have emailed them a couple of times about choosing the room and checking on the amenities provided. They have been friendly and patient to my confirmation of getting an Acropolis view room which is 10 Euro extra (but is definitely worth the deal). They even gave me the highest floor. The Acropolis view room... More

The location of the Cypria is great for getting around Athens. The hotel itself is modest but was clean, and the hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. Our room price included breakfast, which was a buffet with many delicious options, including a breakfast casserole, eggs, pastries, fruit, and fresh cheeses. It was much more than just a continental breakfast... More

The hotel is very centrally located and is accessible from two roads. You are walking distance from the Syntagma Metro Station and the Syntagma sqaure. Its situated in a narrow lane connecting two roads one of them being Ermou Street the fashion street of Athens. The check in was smooth. The reception is well manned and most of them speak... More

If you want a view or outlook or smart lobby, look elsewhere and be prepared to pay the bigger $$, this my third visit to Athens and by far the best little hotel! I have stayed at a much grander one near the Temple of Zeus with lovely views but the price was 2.5 times this one! I have stayed... More

Just 5 mins walk to Syntagma Square, you got metro station, airport shuttle bus in every 15-20 mins. It's the centre of Athens !! Another 5 mins walk to attica if you want to shop. Not a fancy hotel but it's clean and equipped, can't ask for more based on its price.

We stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions, 2 weeks apart. On the first stay the room we were given was very small so much so that there was only enough room for 1 bedside table. The balcony was good but our view was an ugly office building and a derelict rooftop. The bathroom was so small that the shower... More

We stayed several nights at this hotel. On the positive side, it's a good location, the breakfast buffet had a good selection, and the room was a reasonable size for a central hotel. But the hotel has a rather gloomy and dated interior: there are no windows in the breakfast room, black-out curtains in the rooms (and a view of... More

We very much enjoyed our last two nights in Greece at this hotel! It is an older property that has been renovated. They have added more rooms, using an adjoining building. This hotel is in the heart of downtown Athens, down a small side street. There are very few rooms with any kind of view. Our daughters had reserved an... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
