This hotel has the basic and necessary. Compared to the ones in the area it was the only one we could afford. Nothing extraordinary, but it works. It's clean and reception is open 24 hours. It's full of good restaurants around and you can walk to the main attractions in Athens. We chose a room with a view to the... More

Excellent location, right near Syntagma square and lots of shopping. Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast - wide variety in a nice setting. Liked the welcome drink coupon for the bar next door! Good wifi, too. I'd stay here again, or recommend this hotel to a friend.

This hotel, whilst in need of a face-lift, is absolutely in the perfect place for sightseeing in Athens. We walked everywhere possible and when we needed to take the tram or metro, they were moments away. Because it is en-route to and from all the sites, it's convenient for dropping off any shopping or going to the toilet (especially kids)... More

Athens Cypria is a small but very convenient hotel located near Ermou Street two blocks away from Syntagma Square. It is easily accessible by Metro from Athens International Airport - take blue line all the way to Syntagma Square, get out of metro, and with your back to Parliament walk two blocks to the hotel (do not miss the street... Checkin and out very smooth and they had our room ready early. We had a nice room on the fifth floor with great view of the Acropolis from our large balcony. It had a table and chairs so we could sit out with our cocktails watching the lights of the Acropolis come on! Beds were nice, bathroom nice, also had... More

Fantastic location on a side street off the main shopping street, and just off Syntagma Square. Our triple room had a large balcony with a view over the neighboring (litter-strewn) rooftop, and was sunny and cheerful. The room and bathroom are worn and very basic but reasonably clean, and the decor was IKEA plain. AC worked great in 100-degree weather.... More

Right off Ermou St shopping district and close to restaurants. Hotel room and bathroom somewhat outdated, free wifi in room but I had to pay €10 to use desktop computer because my work required more than an iPad. This was a leisure mixed with nighttime work for me. Not really for business trip stay or some one who wants peace... More

A very acceptable room. Ours had a decent view of the acropolis. Not the most expensive, but the location is the selling point. We liked the location. It was central to the places we wanted to go to. It was either within walking distance or close to public transportation. Let's face it, who want's to go to Athens and wants... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
