Great hotel experience! Great location, great breakfasts, great views. Good staff, very helpful. Yes, the bathroom and shower could be bigger but hey, we didn't spend much time there. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Had a great stay in the hotel. Breakfast is nice and fresh. Location is amazing to reach the Acropolis and the Plaka in Athens. Nice and clean rooms. The hotel has an elevator, makes easy to carry your luggages. Dont forget to relax at the roof top , which has an amazing night view to the Acropolis. Lots of restaurants,... More

I spent a lot of time trying to decide on which hotel to book for our first time visit to Athens. We couldn't have been happier with the choice for the cost! The location is such a surprise, literally minutes walk from the bottom of the Acropolis and near to so much including walks. The rooms are basic but all... More

I really liked this place. It was a little dated but reminded me of places I would have stayed in with my parents when I was a kid. Good, old school friendly little hotel. The location is really good (although it is up a bit of a hill from the metro) and there are a couple of little local shops... More

We stayed here for one night only as we were off to see other islands. Such a lovely hotel, clean and the view from the roof was just stunning. We had the opportunity to listen to an opera being performed at the theatre which you could hear perfectly- it was magical. Hotel is in a great location, in a nice... More

Athen's was our first stop on our Greek trip and this was a great start. The hotel is located centrally and is great value. The staff are helpful and gave us some great tips. The room's are basic but clean, the view from the roof is beautiful and on our first night we watched the moon rise over Athens which... More

Great location for a short stay. Just a block to the Acropolis entrance and walkable to restaurants and other attractions. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Wi-Fi connection is very poor and breakfast had limited healthy selections.

This hotel is pretty old and tired. The rooms and public areas are clean but it's all a bit dark and serviceable. We paid 90 euros for a very small triple. The beds were hard and there was not much room to move around. The breakfast was plentiful but, like the hotel, not fancy. Now for the best bits: the... More

Nice views of the acropolis from the rooftop. There are chairs and tables on the rooftop where you can sit and enjoy the view as you drink and/eat. Room is comfortable. Showers are good. Near to attractions and walkable distance to food.

My wife and I (both in our mid- 60s), were travelling abroad from India (to Athens and onwards to Italy) on our own for the first time, so were pretty apprehensive about the hotel, the security and the means of transportation from & to the Airport. We did extensive research for nearly 2 months, depending heavily upon other travelers' reviews... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
