this place is great. we had a family room, a view of the acropolis and everything we could need. this hotel won't win any design awards, and you probably won't be kicking back in your room ordering room service, but if you want a good economical stay in the heart of athens, this is your bet. friendly helpful staff, decent... It was a nice centrally located hotel - close to Syntagma square. The room was very large and spacious but felt a bit dated - it is understandable that the building is probably old but having peeling wallpaper etc is not very good. The cleanliness etc especially of the bathrooms could be improved as well. We also had a problem... More

Loved our stay at Acropolis House. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Location was amazing, close to tons of shopping and restaurants. A quaint space perfect for a couple. We ended up booking extra nights here, we loved the atmosphere so much.

Hotel Acropolis House (HAH) is the definition of value for money. It is clean enough and the rooms are good and big enough. Don't forget it has 2 stars, so don't expect a luxurious experience. Negatives are, the bathrooms are small and one of the cleaning or cooking stuff they use smells funny, which you can get in the morning,... More

I've been to this hotel for 7 nights. Everything was perfect: it's clean (cleaning everyday), stuff is always smiling and extremely helpful, the place is best ever - the very centre so I could easily get every place in the old Athens. The breakfast is tasty. The hotel is old style, no hair-dryer in the room. So a lot of... More

Second time I've been here, and I will come back. The hotel is extremely well located in Plaka, 5 minutes from Syntagma square and in a pedestrian street. It's an ils building, with all the pros and cons you can imagine. Bathrooms are clean although you have to come out of the room. Breakfast is Ok, again, for the price pain.... More

We booked Hotel Acropolis House 2 months before arriving. Upon arrival we were told that due to the Athens marathon, we had to give up our two superior rooms and stay in a family room on the fourth and last night of our stay before flying home the following day. Rooms were very old and not well maintained, very noisy... More

Staff is great, we had a view of the Acropolis from our balcony. Easy to find, I highly recommend! Good hearty breakfast, price was good, also. Everything is close by, good restaurants, shopping, and best of all, pedestrian only streets nearby.

We recently stayed for 3 nights at the Acropolis House. Good points: the staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful; it is very close to the Acropolis and other sights; it is full of character, if a little shabby. Not so good points: our room was noisy - even though the hotel is on a pedestrian only street, nearby streets... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
