First, I'll say that our criteria for a hotel was safe and convenient location, secure facility, budget friendly, clean, and comfortable beds. It met all that criteria, plus had a good breakfast included in the price. I would have rather been in a better neighbourhood, it was one block into a sketchy neighbourhood, and got sketchier the further north you... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in Athens for two nights. The staff was very kind and helpful - a simple breakfast was served every morning. The location is definitely topnotch and is close to many cafes. We don't spend a lot of time hanging out in hotels, so if you're just looking for a place to crash... More

Clean room. Small bathroom. Nice reception guys. Great location, in the center of Athens . The only problem was that sometimes we couldn't take long hot showers. Good heating and great atmosphere. I recommend this hotel.

If you are a budget traveller and dont want to spend much on your stay then Cecil hotel is the best option. We took a bus from airport which dropped us at Syntagma Square. You can take a metro ride also from airport to Monastiraki Metro station which is hardly 2-3 minutes walk from Cecil hotel. The place is most... More

I choose this hotel because i was not finding other hotel availabe, and the price was not so expensive. But It`s not a good deal. Before I had booked the htel I saw that they have room with the view to the Acropolis, they gave us this room, but the room was on top of the roof, you need the... More

First off, the location of this hotel is great! You can take the metro straight from the airport to Monastiraki, and then exit right onto Athinas street and then it's just a 2-3 block walk to the hotel. It's a pretty busy area so it always felt very safe. It did get a bit loud on Saturday night when the... More

Roof top terrace, (bring your own chair) Staff unobtrusive, but friendly and helpful when asked. Easy to book, great prices. Location, Location, Location is everything!!!!! We booked Hotel Cecil for a few nights last month. I wouldn't say that we were clueless about the quality and service (from other reviews), but it isn't as bad as some of them make it out to be. If you want to be close to most of the major landmarks in Athens and the lively Plaka area, this is... More

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighborhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighborhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
