Great launch pad for central Athens. Make sure to visit the nearby market, best very early, 6am onwards. All other sites including the Acropolis are in walking range. Athena is a very lively street. 24 hour kiosks selling all the basics. Restaurants at nearby Platia Iroon.

눇I've been in Athens for five days and I've been able to visit all that I wanted to thanks to the position of the Hotel: it's near all the most important museums, the archeological sites and the most known streets of Athens. Athinas street is a safe street even at night. Cecil Hotel is good value for money. The staff... More

Returning home from the islands I had to spend a night in Athens. I simply chose the cheapest hotel that was available in the centre of the city. I was very pleasantly surprised. The location of the hotel is perfect, it takes only a few minutes to get from Monastiraki metro station to the hotel. The reception was very friendly... More

Hotel Cecil is in a great location in Athens, it is central to most things and within easy walking distance to everything, including Syntagma train station. We had nice view of the Acropolis from our room. Amenities are clean and staff are friendly enough. Would recommend :)

We stayed here between trips to the islands and then to Italy. A very nice room on thye the 3rd floor. Staff were very helpful and informative. It is near the station and all of the markets. We need a taxi very early in the morning and it was arranged and on time. If you are on a budget this... More

I stayed here for one night at the end of an island hopping trip. For one night it was absolutely fine. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. The negatives: If you're not familiar with Athens you might not like the area. It's seconds from all the tourist attractions but also close to some run down areas. However,... More

First, I'll say that our criteria for a hotel was safe and convenient location, secure facility, budget friendly, clean, and comfortable beds. It met all that criteria, plus had a good breakfast included in the price. I would have rather been in a better neighbourhood, it was one block into a sketchy neighbourhood, and got sketchier the further north you... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in Athens for two nights. The staff was very kind and helpful - a simple breakfast was served every morning. The location is definitely topnotch and is close to many cafes. We don't spend a lot of time hanging out in hotels, so if you're just looking for a place to crash... More

Clean room. Small bathroom. Nice reception guys. Great location, in the center of Athens . The only problem was that sometimes we couldn't take long hot showers. Good heating and great atmosphere. I recommend this hotel.

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighborhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighborhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
