We began our honeymoon in Athens, staying at the Hotel Cecil for three nights. A nice, clean basic hotel, with friendly staff and great value for money. Really good access to mainline tube stations and walking distance of good bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in an excellent location being steps away from the metro. The room is by no means posh, in fact it was a bit tattered, but has cable TV and air conditioning. The shower is very outdated and you cannot flush toilet paper. A sign in the room tells you to dispose of it in the bin. Breakfast... More

Location: The hotel couldn't be in a better location. A 5 minute walk from the Acropolis area and a charming and ancient neighborhood filled with restaurants, live entertainment, etc. A block away from the Monastiraki metro stations, which makes getting to the hotel from the airport a breeze, and saves you about 50 euros in taxi fare. There's a train... More

My husband and I visited Athens summer 2013. The location is very good as it is near the metro station, Monastiraki (flea market) and it's along the main road. Basically you can even see Parthenon from there. We even walked from the hotel to Acropolis. But then again, we like to walk a lot. Just be sure to bring with... More

I would recommend this hotel. Its location is great--2 'blocks' from Monistiraki-- and the prices are extremely reasonable;40 Euros per night for a single room. My room was clean and comfortable for my one night stay. The view of the Acropolis from the roof is very nice. They also have tv in the rooms with channels in multiple languages. To... More

This hotel was a good value for Athens, but on my second stay in Athens we looked to spend a bit more for a nicer place in a quieter location. We had the most basic economy double room, which was clean and had its own bathroom. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but not horrible. The room did smell like... More

my friends and I we stayed at Cecil Hotel only one night because we came earlier to Athens and the we couldn't make the check in in the other Hotel, so we found the location very good just 3 blocks from Monastiraki area and close to the subway and all touristic attractions. the rooms are super clean and well decorated,... I arrived at about 8am to the hotel, and they were kind enough to let me have breakfast and check-in super early, so that was a great start. The location of the hotel is great.. Monastiraki is the place to be. A few hundred metres up from the station. I walked all around Athens from here, so I didn't need... More

Booked an extra night at the last minute to spend with friends to celebrate a birthday. Originally a cheap one night stay on our way from Kefalonia to the UK to visit family. We chose it for the location, a few minutes walk from Monastiraki Metro and the heart of Athens which we love. It really is a budget hotel... More

The hotel is in great location since it is a short walk away from the metro station, and it is close to many shops, bars and restaurants; great view from the rooftop. Our room was a little bit small but it was very clean and we had access to free WiFi. On the downside, the noise level from the adjacent... More
