I choose this hotel because i was not finding other hotel availabe, and the price was not so expensive. But It`s not a good deal. Before I had booked the htel I saw that they have room with the view to the Acropolis, they gave us this room, but the room was on top of the roof, you need the... More

First off, the location of this hotel is great! You can take the metro straight from the airport to Monastiraki, and then exit right onto Athinas street and then it's just a 2-3 block walk to the hotel. It's a pretty busy area so it always felt very safe. It did get a bit loud on Saturday night when the... More

Cecil Hotel Athens is the best budget hotel. Stayed twice 2007 and 2014, still clean, fresh, tidy, comfortable. Rooms functional, great air con. Roof top terrace, (bring your own chair) Staff unobtrusive, but friendly and helpful when asked. Easy to book, great prices. Location, Location, Location is everything!!!!! Close to train to airport (or elsewhere) walk to major ancient sites,... More

We booked Hotel Cecil for a few nights last month. I wouldn't say that we were clueless about the quality and service (from other reviews), but it isn't as bad as some of them make it out to be. If you want to be close to most of the major landmarks in Athens and the lively Plaka area, this is... More

Hotel is over rated n the staff is not friendly. Did not stay much in the hotel. Spend most of my time out doing shopping, drinking. Quite a lot of good area to go in of staying in the boring hotel doing nothing

My stay was average at best. The room was rather bare and uninviting, staff were minimalistic in their interaction. The best thing about it is probably the location. WIFI not available in the rooms, only in the breakfast area.

Great position near Monastiraki and in the streets where there are goods shop in the morning. It was an old hotel but very clean and we have found very comfortable beds. The rooms and bathrooms are little with air conditioner (very silent!). Athens is a very noisy city ( and all the hotels have little rooms and noisy streets!) but... More

The title says enough! We thought that this hotel would be a cheap but decent hotel near the main sights in Athens. It was definitely a low quality hotel, but we were okay dealing with our room's broken shower and early morning noise for the location and price. That was until we found bed bugs crawling around the bed and... More

We visited in May 2014 with a young child. The location was a bit of walk from the Metro but when we got our bearings it was a good location. The room was clean, staff good, free breakfast and internet. Only downfall was the smell of smoke embedded into the mattresses. There was also a noise factor - the street... More

Stayed here for a couple of days at the beginning and of a recent trip to Greece. Hotel was well situated: easy to get to/from airport, near Plaka, near Syntagma, near the Acropolis, near the markets etc. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Very nice breakfast: fresh fruit and yogurt, good coffee/juice. Hotel staff very friendly... More
