Very good hotel in a wonderful position close to Plaka Syntagma Acropolis Lycabettus all very walkable. Bathrooms excellent , but rooms a bit bland however quite acceptable and very clean. Good buffet breakfast with most things that one wants on offer. Decent price for city centre. Do not pay extra for outside rooms or balconies as they will front onto... More

Fantastic position in Athens for sightseeing. Nice modern hotel with excellent breakfast, also nice to have a balcony in hotel room. Close to Plaka and within walking distance of all the main attractions in Athens. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to visit Athens. View from roof deck excellent.

I visited Athens on a quick trip to visit friends and tourist attractions. I spent hours and hours googling different hotels and reading reviews and finally decided on the Amalia Hotel, one of the main reasons was the free wifi in rooms, as I would have my cellular data on my mobile turned off to avoid the high carrier fees.... I visited Amalia hotel this month for business reasons, and I was very pleased from the service of the staff and the decoration. Rooms were comfortable and the view was really great (the national garden and the Greek parliament building, over Syntagma square). Breakfast was really great, there was a great choice of pastries, cheeses and cold-cuts to choose from.... More

The Amalia was a great choice for us. The beds and rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast which was included in the price was amazing best breakfast I'd had in Europe. The location of the Amalia is perfect really close to key tourist sites as well as shopping and restaurants. The hop on & off buses have a stop virtually... More

Amalia is a very decent 4-star hotel. Everything is clean and neat -- but nothing fancy. For us, it was good enough but if you're a luxe traveller, this probably isn't for you. Rooms were an ok size - comfortable for two girls with two 29" suitcases. Wifi is free but can be patchy at times. We were surprised that... More

Location was good - room and bathroom were small but clean and served our needs - not luxurious - some staff at the reception desk were more helpful than others - breakfast was great- we were surprised when we asked for help and asked someone at the desk to call a local place for us and we were told we... We found Amalia to be the perfect hotel in Athens for our stay especially in terms of its great location right on Syntagma square. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff helpful and the breakfast good. I would definitely stay here again!

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
