This is the third time I've staid at the Amalia. It's a mid-price hotel in a great location, Staff are friendly and helpful. It has a good bar on the ground floor serving drinks and snacks. The rooms are typically small as are most hotel in Athens. On Sunday you get great views of the changing of the guard from... More

Very expensive, fancy Hotel. Great location, close to all the sites in down town Athens. We stayed on the third floor which was quiet with minimal street noise. Nice comfortable rooms with very comfortable beds. Has a refrigerator in the room but is chock full of over priced mini bar stuff. Nice flat screen TV, but only two English speaking... More

Located just a hundred yards or so from the syntagma, subway station and more or less across from the Parliament. This hotel was ideally situated for the main attractions of Athens. The service was excellent and the staff were always helpful. The rooms were spotless and the buffet breakfast was amazing. There is also a small rooftop terrace area which... More

Stayed here for 3 nights for a short city break.superb location for getting round the city. Easy access to metro and bus services to airport (3mins) with view of syntagma square, the parliament building and the main gardens opposite, a delightful retreat from the busy city. Room lovely with mini bar and air con but sad we had no balcony... More

This is the third hotel I stayed in Athens. Remarkably, this was the worst room I have have been in, yet the most costly hotel out of the three. I was told I was given a superior room. It was small, dark, dowdy with brown and beige decor. The shower did not drain immediately and it took about 15 minutes... More

We stayed here for a total of 4 nights. This is a beautiful and modern hotel with great amenities. The rooms are well appointed, clean and spacious. There are several channels on their tv's, great restaurants and free wifi in the lobby. The breakfast in the morning are incredible! There are fresh fruits, juice, eggs to order, meats, vegetables, fresh... More

We arrived and were pleasantly greeted and bags were taken from the curb. Our room had an excellent view and nice balcony. Bed was really comfortable and room had nice coffee pot and a gourmet breakfast was included and staff was wonderful. We will be going back in the future.

This hotel is really in a great location because it's an easy walk almost anywhere -- to the Acropolis, Plaka, Benaki museum -- all walkable. The hotel room was fine. Clean. Windows. Mine backed up to an alley so nothing at all to look at. The lobby is really tacky -- decorations from the 80s probably -- glittery butterflies --... More

Hotel room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice shampoo/conditioner included. Room was a fair size. Could hear just a bit of street noise but not enough to keep us awake after a day of walking. Didn't ever hear anyone else in the halls or other rooms. Room was kept cool no problem in the heat. About a 1... More

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. Can't beat the location as this hotel is just right at the center of everything. Subway, ariport buses, and suburb express buses are all outside the door. All the major sites are short walk away. Good service, clean and modern. We would stay here again.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
